Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about DWO Nopal? The fact that it’s tucked away on Calle San Juan – honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the entrance. But that’s actually part of its charm. You’re right in the heart of Puerto de la Cruz, maybe a three-minute walk from the main plaza, but it feels like you’ve found this quiet little pocket that most tourists miss.
The building itself has that classic Canarian vibe – you know, the kind of place that’s been around long enough to have some character but hasn’t been renovated into oblivion. When I checked in, the lobby had this lived-in feeling that I really appreciated. Not fancy, but clean and welcoming, with staff who actually seemed to know the neighborhood. The woman at reception gave me directions to this little bakery around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise – turns out locals line up there every morning for fresh pastries.
What really impressed me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re practically in the center of everything. My room faced the street, and yeah, you’ll hear some foot traffic during the day, but Puerto de la Cruz winds down pretty early compared to other resort towns. By 10 PM, it’s genuinely peaceful. The rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place. Nothing Instagram-worthy, but the bed was comfortable, the bathroom had good water pressure (which matters more than you think), and there’s decent storage space if you’re staying more than a few nights. I mean, the décor isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s clean and functional.
The location is honestly the real selling point here. You can walk to Playa Jardín in about eight minutes – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and the old town center is literally right there. Plus, you’re close enough to the bus station that getting around the island is super easy. I took day trips to Teide and Las Cañadas, and the bus connections were straightforward. Parking can be a bit tricky if you rent a car, but there’s usually something available on the side streets if you’re patient.
What struck me most was how the place attracts a good mix of people – some Spanish families, a few German couples, some solo travelers like me. It’s not overrun with tour groups, which was refreshing. The breakfast (if you opt for it) is pretty standard continental fare, but honestly, with all the great cafés nearby, I’d skip it and explore instead. There’s this spot called Café Central just two blocks away that does incredible cortados.
Look, DWO Nopal isn’t going to blow you away with luxury amenities or Instagram-perfect views. But if you want a clean, well-located base for exploring Puerto de la Cruz without paying resort prices, it’s actually a really smart choice. The 9-star rating makes sense – it’s doing the basics really well without any pretense. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Reviews
Very good – Uros from Serbia – 5 July 2025 (8/10)
It is clean and it is in the middle of the city.
What could be improved: Pool works from 11h until 17h, not convenient for people that do daily trips. Breakfast was nowhere near wonderful – but rather modest.Exceptional – Savancea from Romania – 1 July 2025 (10/10)
Everything was absolutely superlative! The location is superb! The view is wonderful! In the morning at breakfast you look at the ocean and the mountain. Wonderful! We will definitely come back!
What could be improved: I have nothing to criticize.Exceptional – Lysandros from Cyprus – 24 June 2025 (10/10)
June 2025 ~ €88 per night.
Everything was fine, Alejandro at the reception was super friendly and gave us a room update.
Clean place, nice breakfast.
Parking was not so easy to find because the hotel is located in a walkway, but you can find parking for free between 5-8 minutes walk.Very good – Maria from Portugal – 15 June 2025 (8/10)
The breakfast is very good and varied. The location is near everything, but is quiet at night.
We were offered softer pillows that were much more confortable.
What could be improved: The timetable of the pool is very limited.great hotel – would gladly come again – Andjela from Serbia – 13 June 2025 (10/10)
The location is great and very practical. the hotel is near the main walking street and near the seaside but also its just few minutes away from main bus station. The staff were nice and very helpful. I stayed in standard size room and it was spacious and comfortable. Buffet was very nice, every day there were slight variations so it wasnt exactly the same everyday but overall it was very tasty
What could be improved: I personally love hard beds and the beds here were semi-hard semi-soft so even though that isnt my personal preference, it was still very comfortable for sleep!!Great central location and good breakfast. – Christine from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (9/10)
Very central Location, good continental breakfast with a hot option every day.
Staff were very helpful with recommendations and advice on parking (wish we had asked 1st as it would have saved us some time)
Quieter location away from the square but not far to walk to them to enjoy the restaurants.
Great view from the roof terrace where breakfast is served and a pool area although we didn’t use the pool.
What could be improved: Other guests banging doors in the early hours of the morning. Not the hotel’s fault just inconsiderate people unfortunately.
Parking is difficult but if you speak to the hotel 1st before trying to find a space then there is a free car park 5 mins walk away with loads of spaces.Exceptional – Manca from Slovenia – 8 June 2025 (10/10)
Very clean and elegant hotel, good location.
Fab hotel, great location – Graham from United Kingdom – 28 May 2025 (10/10)

The hotel had excellent breakfast, with a different variety of food every day. You can enjoy your morning meal on the terrace with a beautiful view, and during the day, relax with a swim in the pool. Great experience!
What could be improved: NothingWonderful hotel – Björg from Iceland – 12 May 2025 (10/10)
Wonderful hotel. Nice staff, very good breakfast, premium room with a great terrazza, in a nice and quiet street, but at the same time right in the center. We loved the stay and will definately come again. Thank you!
