Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels in Puerto de la Cruz over the years, and honestly? Dulce Paz gets it right in ways that surprised me. The location on Avenida los Cachazos isn’t flashy – you’re not right on the main drag with all the tourist chaos – but that’s actually what makes it work. You’re close enough to walk to Playa Jardín in about ten minutes (and trust me, you’ll want to make that walk), but far enough from the evening crowds that you can actually sleep with the windows open.
The first thing that hit me when I walked in was how the lobby doesn’t try too hard, you know? Clean lines, local artwork that doesn’t scream “hotel art,” and staff who seem genuinely happy to see you rather than just going through the motions. My room faced the mountains – well, I mean, most of them do from this side of town – and I’d find myself just standing on the balcony in the mornings with coffee, watching the clouds roll over the peaks. The beds are proper firm (finally, a Spanish hotel that doesn’t think tourists want to sleep on marshmallows), and the AC actually works without sounding like a freight train, which… if you’ve been to the Canaries in summer, you’ll appreciate that detail.
What really sold me on this place was the little things they nail. The shower pressure is fantastic – I’m talking wake-you-up-in-the-morning fantastic. There’s a decent coffee machine in the room, not just some sad instant packets. And the WiFi actually reaches the pool area, which means you can answer emails while pretending to be completely disconnected. Speaking of the pool, it’s not huge, but it’s never felt crowded even when the hotel seems full. The poolside bar makes a solid mojito, and the bartender Miguel – he’s been there for years – knows exactly how locals like their cortados. You’ll hear a mix of Spanish, German, and English around the pool, which gives it this nice international vibe without feeling like a package tour destination.
The location really grows on you. Walk five minutes down toward the old town and you hit those narrow streets with tiny bars where locals actually drink, not just tourist traps. There’s this little Canarian restaurant – Casa Marcos – about three blocks away that serves the best papas arrugadas I’ve had on the island, and honestly, the hotel staff will point you toward gems like that instead of just handing you a generic tourist map. Parking can be a bit tight on the street, but the hotel has a garage that’s worth the extra few euros if you’re renting a car to explore the island.
The 9.1 rating makes sense when you stay here. It’s not trying to be a luxury resort – it’s a solid, well-run four-star that understands what travelers actually want. Good sleep, reliable amenities, friendly service, and a location that lets you experience Puerto de la Cruz like a person, not just a tourist checking boxes. I’ve recommended it to friends, and they always thank me later, which… well, that’s really the test, isn’t it?

A perfect stay – Anastasia from Ireland – 16 January 2025 (10/10)
Beautiful, clean and well equipped apartment in a quiet location. With a lovely balcony with views of Tiede and afternoon sunshine. Within easy walking distance of shops the Botanical gardens and plenty of restaurants and bars. You can also walk to La Orotava. Our host Rebeca was at the apartment to greet us and provided welcome treats and all we needed such as a kettle. We really enjoyed our stay.
What could be improved: Nothing, all great.Der Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm und erholsam. – Jens from Germany – 19 April 2025 (9/10)
Staðsetning frábær 9 – Þorbjörg from Iceland – 30 January 2025 (9/10)
Mjög góður gestgjafi. Íbúðin rúmgóð og vel útbúin af snyrtivörum og eldhúsáhöldum. Sundlaugin frábær og mikið næði. Frábært útsýni og stutt í alla þjónustu.
What could be improved: Allt bara mjög fínt!Exceptional – Riggerjack from Hungary – 25 July 2024 (10/10)
Csendes, családias, nyugodt környezet, szuper medencével. Jól felszerelt konyha. Rebeka mindenben azonnal segített, legyen az egy mixer, egy palacsintasütő vazy épp egy mikrosütő. A lakás elrendezése szuper, a szomszédok csendesek. A belváros gyalog 4 percre van. Imádtuk a nagy erkélyt.
What could be improved: Nehéz ilyet mondani. A víznyomás kicsit gyenge volt és nekem az ágy túl puha volt, de a nejem imádta.Exceptional – Georgina from Spain – 24 April 2025 (10/10)
Good – Jacqueline from Portugal – 21 November 2024 (7/10)
