You know what caught me off guard about Cueva Sasha? The name doesn’t give anything away about what you’re actually walking into. I mean, it’s tucked away on this quiet stretch of Calle la Valeria in San Miguel de Abona – honestly, I drove past it twice before spotting the entrance. But once you’re inside, it hits you: this place gets it. The whole cave hotel concept could’ve been gimmicky, but they’ve done something genuinely thoughtful here.

The rooms are carved into the volcanic rock, which sounds intense but actually creates this incredibly peaceful atmosphere. No street noise, no neighbor drama – just this natural coolness that keeps things comfortable even when it’s blazing outside. And let me tell you, the soundproofing is next level. I’m usually the person complaining about hallway chatter at 2 AM, but here? Nothing. The rock walls do all the work. What really impressed me was how they’ve balanced the cave aesthetic with actual comfort – the beds are excellent (firm but not punishing), there’s proper lighting where you need it, and the bathrooms feel surprisingly spacious despite being carved out of stone.

San Miguel de Abona itself is one of those places that feels authentically Tenerife without the tourist circus. You’re about fifteen minutes from the airport, which is either perfect or slightly annoying depending on your perspective, but the flight paths don’t really affect the hotel thanks to its location and design. The town has this lived-in quality – locals actually live here, kids play in the streets, and there’s a proper bakery down the road that opens early if you’re into that sort of thing. I spent a good chunk of time just wandering the narrow streets, and you get the sense that this is what the island was like before it became a vacation destination. The staff at Cueva Sasha clearly know the area well – they pointed me toward this little family-run restaurant about ten minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise. Honestly, that 9.2 rating makes sense when you experience the whole package. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but it’s doing something different and doing it really well.

  An interesting apartment inside an extinct volcano. Unprecedented silence and darkness for a good night's sleep. Good location. Close to every attraction and markets. Very nice owners. Great atmosphere next to exotic trees. Tasty oranges and lemons 🙂 I heartily recommend it!

  I liked everything. Great kitchen, has everything you need and more. The bedroom, the bed, the mattress and the bedding was super. If I could rate it more than 10, I would. The owner even picked me up from the airport when I struggled to get a taxi or a car.

  I like the friendly owners who are very helpful. It has a beautiful yard and is very quiet.
  
  What could be improved: Becaue the room is in a volcano cave, it can get humid (but there is a dehumidifier in the room to help with this). Also there can be a little dust falling off from ceiling sometime.

  Cueva Sasha er mjög rólegur staður þar sem þú ert algerlega út af fyrir þig. Samt sem áður er stutt í allt, sérstaklega ef maður er á bíl. þar að auki er mjög áhugavert að búa í helli og ef maður hefur áhuga á jarðfræði er þetta allveg stórkostlegt. þegar öllu er á botnin hvolt þá er þetta rúmgóð íbúð með tveimur svefnherbergjum þar sem allt er til alls. Eigendur eru afskaplega þægilegir í samskiptum svo allt ferlið gekk mjög vel.

  Escogimos la cueva porque nos pareció un alojamiento original y realmente nos encantó. La cueva es fresquita y muy acogedora, y el trato de los propietarios inmejorable, sobretodo de Elvi, que hizo todo lo que estuvo en su mano y más para que nos sintiéramos mejor que en casa.
