Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Cuarto Verode when I first pulled up to 36 Avenida VIII de Agosto – the name’s a bit of a mouthful, and La Guancha isn’t exactly on every tourist’s radar. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes this place special. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential area where you actually hear locals chatting on their balconies instead of tour groups shuffling past your window. The apartment-style setup means you get proper space to spread out, which is honestly refreshing after cramming into those tiny hotel rooms that seem designed for people who don’t travel with more than a toothbrush.

The thing about staying here is that you’re living like a local without even trying. There’s this little bakery just down the street where the owner – I mean, I’m pretty sure it’s the owner – remembers your coffee order by day three. And the Saturday morning market that sets up nearby? Pure gold for anyone who wants to grab fresh fruit and actually good bread instead of whatever passes for breakfast at most hotels. The apartment itself has this green room (hence “Cuarto Verde,” I figured out eventually) that gets incredible morning light, and the whole place feels lived-in rather than sterile. Sure, it’s not fancy – this is definitely a three-star kind of situation – but everything works the way it should, and there’s something to be said for having a proper kitchen when you want to make coffee at 6 AM without hunting down room service.

What really sold me on this place was how quiet it gets at night. La Guancha doesn’t have that party-until-dawn energy you find in bigger Spanish cities, which means you can actually sleep with the windows open and wake up to bird sounds instead of traffic. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no corporate script, just someone who clearly knows the neighborhood and gave me actual useful tips about parking (there’s a spot behind the building that’s usually free after 7 PM, by the way). It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because you’re comfortable, not because you’re stuck. And honestly, for the price point, you’re getting way more character and space than you’d find in a standard hotel. Just don’t expect a concierge desk or daily housekeeping – this is more like borrowing a friend’s apartment, which is exactly why it works so well.

After days of hiking and discovering we had the feeling of coming home and being well taken care off.   Everything was great!!! Cruzy and Ruben are the loveliest hosts we ever met. They welcomed us and made us feel at home. The appartment is very clean, has a huge terrace with the view to Etna and to the ocean. It has everything you need fo a long stay. There is a very nice common area for all the guests to use as well as the washing machine and iron. It was perfect, we will come back!❤️
  
  What could be improved: The location is a bit further from the restaurants and the beaches. It worked great for us because we were there mostly for hiking and wanted to stay away from all of the busy resorts. But is it something to consider if you are looking for nightlife.

  100% recommended! Cruzy and Ruben are so lovely and warm-hearted hosts! When we arrived they suprised us with a Tapas and red wine. Not only this…during our stay they gave us advices for things to do, left typical sweets laguneros and delicious bananas infront of our door 🙂 we loved the whole house, it's decorated with so much love and taste. Our apartment was equiped with everything we needed to feel comfortable and we loved the stunning view from the bed and the terrace to Teide!

  If you are looking for a pretty apartment with a great balcony with a view + perfect hosts, this accommodation is great for you. Cruzy and Rubén are such lovely and caring people who make sure everything is according to your needs. They have great tips for activities in the area or where to get the ice-cream in Garachico.   Literally everything! The place, the location, the view and the best – hosts. You won't find better place in the area 😉 spectacular view of Teide from your bed. You don't even need to wake up :D, but it's worth it. The view from your private terrace is incredible. You can park your car on the street for free. There are always free spots. Plus – you see your car from the terrace. You'll find everything you need in the kitchen like coffe, tea (even some spices, olive oil, vinegar). The hosts are the best. They will greet you as a family member with some regional snacks and wine 😍. We have loved our stay. Fully recommend!

  Awesome accomodation, comfortable pillow (first time in the hotel), equipped kitchen and bathroom, nice teracce and patio, filtrated water, but the best were owners. I felt like at friends, not in apartment. We sat at the patio, drank a wine and talk about everythink. It was really awesome. I can recommend to everybody.

  Really liked the stay, warm welcome, Cruzy and Ruben are very friendly, helped with all questions, beautiful classic canarian house, where I found everything I needed, great view, every morning we enjoyed the view of Teide volcano from the terrace, If you are looking for something special, you should stay here.
