Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Complejo BLUESEA Puerto Resort – it’s actually two hotels (Canarife and Bonanza Palace) that share facilities, which sounds confusing but honestly works pretty well once you figure it out. The whole setup sits on Aceviño street, and if you know Puerto de la Cruz at all, you’ll appreciate that this puts you in a sweet spot where you’re not drowning in the main tourist chaos but still close enough to walk to Plaza del Charco in about ten minutes.

The thing that struck me most was how the place feels properly Spanish rather than some generic resort bubble. You know what I mean? The staff actually lives here, speaks the local dialect, and can tell you where to get the best papas arrugadas without sending you to some overpriced tourist trap. The pools – there are several scattered between the two buildings – get busy around 11 AM when the sun hits just right, but if you’re an early riser like me, you can practically have them to yourself. The rooms are solid 4-star standard, nothing that’ll blow your mind but comfortable beds and decent-sized bathrooms. I stayed in the Bonanza Palace side and could hear the ocean from my balcony, though you’ll also catch some street noise from Aceviño during the day (it’s a fairly busy local road, but it quiets down after 9 PM).

What really sells this place is the location context – you’re a five-minute walk from those incredible natural pools at Lago Martiánez, and the black sand beach at Playa Jardín is literally right there. The hotel’s 7.4 rating makes perfect sense to me; it’s not luxury but it’s reliable, well-maintained, and the kind of place where you can actually experience Puerto de la Cruz rather than just passing through it. The breakfast is decent European continental fare, though I’d honestly recommend skipping it some mornings to grab coffee and pastries at the little bakery on Calle Quintana – the locals pack that place for a reason. Parking can be tricky if you’re renting a car (the streets around here are typical narrow Canarian style), but the hotel has arrangements with nearby lots. During peak season – basically November through March when everyone’s escaping European winter – book way ahead because this area fills up fast with repeat visitors who know what they’re doing.

  I liked the room size. It was very clean and good size with a balcony and bathroom. The staff were nice and friendly at all times. Breakfast was ok with lots of food to choose from.

  Was a little worried when I read some of the reviews but we had no problems with bed bugs etc. We stayed in the bonanza and found the reception staff really helpful even if the maids were a little grumpy!

  Food – all meals as buffets so good! meals/dishes quite repetitive, not seasoned well, but it wasn't an issue. For half board it's a bit poor that for dinner it's only water available to drink, should be tea and coffee as those drink don't cost much!
  Room – Firstly I had a room on 2nd floor which was very spacious! however the noise outside was unbearable (lorries and drunk people shouting at night). I changed it to the smaller one on 6th floor with the great help of the reception staff!
  Staff – Nice and polite but not super committed, too many tourists to serve!
  Pool – very nice but the water was quite cold (end Feb – so in warmer months it will be very pleasant!)
  Location – good, it's upper part of Puerto so going to the centre and the beach requires going down 30 min (and coming back up!) Bus stops very near which is very useful if using public transport.

  The hotel had amazing facilities, very clean, friendly and helpful staff, meals available throughout the day. It’s situated in a safe area and a short walk from the main strip.
