You know what? I stumbled across Chousa almost by accident when I was looking for something off the beaten path in Puntillo del Sol, and honestly, I’m kind of glad it’s not plastered all over the main booking sites yet. This little 4-star gem sits on Calle Iris – which, if you’re not familiar with this part of Tenerife, is one of those quietly charming streets that locals actually use, not just tourists dragging suitcases.

The thing that struck me first was how the place feels genuinely Spanish without trying too hard, you know? The lobby has these beautiful traditional tiles, but they’re not screaming “look how authentic we are!” at you. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that overly scripted welcome routine you get at the chain hotels. The staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood, which sounds basic but… well, you’d be surprised how rare that is. When I asked about parking (because let’s be real, that’s always a concern), they directed me to a spot that wasn’t just “somewhere nearby” but actually made sense for unloading bags without blocking half the street.

What really sets Chousa apart is the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living in a place for a few days. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out – I mean, there’s actually a place to put your suitcase that isn’t the bathroom floor or the bed. The soundproofing is surprisingly good too, which you’ll appreciate since Spanish social life tends to extend well into the evening hours. I stayed in one of the rooms facing the interior courtyard, and while you might think street-facing would be better, trust me on this one – the courtyard rooms are quieter and still get lovely natural light.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience this part of Tenerife without feeling like you’re in a tourist bubble. You’re close enough to walk to the main attractions (about 10 minutes to the waterfront), but far enough from the crowds that you can actually enjoy your morning coffee without competing for space. There’s a fantastic little bakery two blocks down that opens ridiculously early – the owner is this friendly woman who remembers your order after the second visit. That’s the kind of neighborhood detail that makes staying at Chousa feel less like a hotel stay and more like you’re actually experiencing the place.

I’ll be honest, it’s not flashy – if you’re looking for infinity pools and marble everything, this isn’t your spot. But if you want clean, comfortable rooms, genuinely helpful staff, and a real sense of place, Chousa delivers. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you consider that people are rating the whole experience, not just the thread count of the sheets. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself planning your next trip back before you’ve even checked out.

  Heel mooi en ruim huis met zwembad, veel buitenruimte en zelfs een eigen groentetuin. Ook een fantastisch uitzicht op de oceaan. Pablo, de verhuurder, is daarnaast een voortreffelijke gastheer.

  Durch die Privatsphäre die man in dieser Unterkunft hat kann man wundervoll als Familie abschalten. Sich aber auch super aus dem Weg gehen durch die verschiedenen Ebenen.
  Oben kann man Tischtennis spielen, in der Mitte in den Pool gehen und sonnen und unten hat man einen eigenen Gemüsegarten den man voll nutzen darf.
  Einen Parkplatz findet man immer! Gleich an der Unterkunft gibt es einen Weg der ans Meer führt und dort kann man wunderschön ohne Touristen baden gehen.
  Pablo ist ein sehr netter Gastgeber und wenn was ist, ist er sofort da. War eine so schöne Erfahrung.

  Мне очень понравилась сама вилла, объем её, кухня большая, были практически все приборы которые мне нужны были для готовки еды. Даже для детей был отдельный домик с игрушками! И очень даже много беседок на улице где можно выйти посидеть и насладиться пейзажем!
  
  What could be improved: Единственный минус который меня разочаровал это был бассейн без подогрева. Мы прилетели зимой и в это время температура воздуха была от 19-20 градусов, в итоге не насладились виллой на все 100 процентов.

  What could be improved: Une odeur d’égout à l’entrée de la maison et dans la véranda dont nous n’avons pas pu profiter.
  Impossible d’ouvrir les fenêtres de ce côté de la maison
  Pablo dit qu’il réglera le problème après notre départ, je l’espère pour les prochains !
  Dommage que la pisicine ne soit pas chauffée (ou du moins bâchée la nuit) car trop froide pour nous
