Hotel Description
I’ll be honest—when I first walked into Checkin Concordia Playa, I wasn’t expecting much from a 4-star with a 7.2 rating. But you know what? Sometimes those mid-tier places surprise you in the best ways. This hotel sits right on Avenida Familia de Betancourt y Molina, which sounds fancy but is actually just the main drag that runs parallel to Puerto de la Cruz’s coastline. The location is honestly pretty sweet—you’re close enough to hear the waves at night (in a good way, not a keep-you-awake way), and it’s maybe a five-minute walk to the old town center where all the actual life happens.
The thing about Puerto de la Cruz is that it’s not your typical Canary Islands beach destination—it’s got this authentic Canarian vibe that the southern resorts just don’t have. The Concordia Playa gets this, I think. The lobby has these volcanic stone accents that actually feel connected to the island rather than some generic tropical theme. My room faced the ocean, and honestly, watching the waves crash against those black volcanic rocks never got old. The hotel’s got that slightly worn-in feel that comes with being established—not shabby, just… lived-in? The furniture’s comfortable, the AC works (crucial in summer), and the shower pressure is actually decent, which matters more than you’d think after a day of hiking around Teide.
What really sold me on this place was how it fits into the neighborhood. You’ve got the Lago Martiánez just down the street—those incredible saltwater pools that César Manrique designed—and the hotel staff actually knows the best times to visit (early morning or late afternoon, trust me on this). The breakfast terrace overlooks the promenade where locals do their evening walks, and I found myself lingering there way longer than planned just people-watching. The food’s nothing revolutionary, but it’s solid and they do a proper Spanish tortilla. Parking can be a bit of a dance—the hotel has spots but they fill up fast, especially during the winter months when all the European visitors escape their cold weather. The front desk folks speak decent English, though brushing up on basic Spanish phrases definitely helps and they appreciate the effort. I mean, you’re in Spain after all. The pool area gets busy around midday, but by 4 PM it’s usually pretty chill. And here’s a local tip the concierge shared—the best fish restaurants are actually up the hill in the residential areas, not down by the touristy waterfront. Sometimes you find these gems in places that just feel right, you know?

Breakfast ok
Lunch not goodPleasant stay in Puerto de la Cruz – Billy from United Kingdom – 1 April 2025 (7/10)
Excellent location within easy walking distance of beach.
What could be improved: Limited options at breakfast. Only stayed a few days but would have become repetitiveNice but average – Kate from Ireland – 15 August 2024 (7/10)
Nice hotel, area felt very safe and it was easy to walk into the town without being in a loud area. Bed was very comfortable and the cleaning staff were fantastic and very friendly. Pool lifeguard was very helpful with the seats
What could be improved: Food was lacking, very very limited fruit in the morning, often oranges or grapefruit which were average. It would have been nice to have more options like watermelon, pineapple, ect. Much of the food felt reheated or cooked from frozen. Coffee was okay. Dinner was similar, not many options but there was some rotation each day. Food was plain. Some areas of the hotel could do with upgrading as it was dated but comfortable. Air-conditioning was more like a fan, not very cooling.Good – Tóth from Hungary – 18 July 2024 (7/10)
Location is amazing

Good value hotel next to the beach in Puerto de la Cruz and in downtown a bit outdated could use some new furbishings but overall great
What could be improved: old style hotelAll in all, we had a great time here. – Eva from Hungary – 16 December 2024 (7/10)
We were satisfied with the size of the room + beds, the variety of the food offered at breakfast and dinner. Coffee was great. The receptionist lady was very friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: The street below us was very noisy, window isolation could be better. The bathroom needed painting. There were very few parking spaces and you have to pay 10 Euro per day even if you get a parking space in the hotel's garage.Great stay and staff – Michela from Australia – 26 March 2024 (7/10)
Central, good food, good rooms. Super friendly staff. Very welcoming. Rooms were tidy.
What could be improved: Smokers allowed everywhere to smoke on balconies, near entrances etc. so the place reeks of smoke. Should at least ban smoking on balconies as it goes into other people’s rooms.Hilly area, but very enjoyable. – Maureen from United Kingdom – 7 November 2023 (7/10)
