Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Casa del Abuelo II? The name makes it sound like some generic chain hotel, but honestly, this place has way more personality than most four-star properties I’ve stayed at. It’s tucked right on San Antonio street in Buenavista del Norte – and I mean properly tucked, not just saying that. You’ll actually walk past a couple of local bars and a tiny grocery store that the owner’s friend runs (she mentioned it during check-in, which was refreshingly chatty rather than rushed). The whole area feels authentically Canarian, if that makes sense. Not touristy-authentic, but actually authentic.

The building itself is one of those traditional houses that’s been converted really thoughtfully. I loved that they kept the original tile work in the common areas – you can tell someone actually cared about preserving the character instead of just slapping modern fixtures everywhere. My room had this massive wooden wardrobe that looked like it belonged to someone’s actual grandfather, which I guess fits the “abuelo” theme perfectly. The bed was surprisingly comfortable too, though the pillows were a bit too soft for my taste (I’m picky about that stuff). What really impressed me was how quiet it stayed at night, even though you’re right in the middle of the village. The walls must be pretty solid because I never heard neighbors, just the occasional local heading home from the bar down the street – which was actually kind of charming rather than annoying.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t a place where you’ll find a concierge or room service or any of that polished hotel stuff. It’s more like staying at a really well-run guesthouse where the people running it actually live in the area and know their stuff. The woman at reception gave me better hiking recommendations than any guidebook I’ve read, including this trail that starts literally five minutes from the hotel that most tourists never find. She also warned me about the parking situation (there’s street parking, but it fills up fast during market days), which saved me a headache. The whole experience felt genuine in a way that’s getting harder to find these days. Plus, with a 9.5 rating, I wasn’t the only one who felt that way – though honestly, I was skeptical of that score until I stayed there myself. Sometimes those high ratings are just from people who don’t travel much, but this one’s earned.

  This is one of the best places we've ever stayed during our vacations. Beautiful views from the terrace and every window in the apartment, spacious and very clean apartment, a wonderful and large garden with fresh fruit and eggs from the chickens, close to hiking trails and to the old town.   The property is clean and comfortable located on the first floor of the private house with nice yard. From the windows you can see the ocean, mountains and green golf fields that creates beautiful views all together.
  The location is perfect to visit by car all touristic sites like Teide, Lora Park, Masca and others. There is a free parking near the property. Buenavsta village is nice and quiet.

  The entire apartment is very spacious and clean. From one side you are looking at the ocean and from the other you see mountains (incl. Pico del Teide). Easy check-in and very good comunication with the lessor. He gave me lot of tips for restaurant, trips and much more. The equipment of the apartment contains everything, what i needed. Fully equiped kitchen and as a bonus were two bottles of water in refrigerator when i arrived. I really appreciated it. I can recommend with no doubt and i'll be happy when visit this place again.   It was very quiet at night and we had a lovely view of the ocean and the cliffs.
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen had many items but, lacked basics like a cutting board and chopping knife. The shower was small which is not that big of a problem but, it didn't have a shelf to put soap and shampoo. The only place was the floor.
