You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down Calle Esteben de Ponte looking for CHC – Casa Blanca Garachico. I mean, it’s tucked away on this quiet street that most tourists completely miss because they’re all rushing to the main plaza. But honestly, that’s exactly what makes this place special. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm – like you’ve found one of those hidden gems that locals have been keeping to themselves.

The building itself has this wonderfully worn character that you only get in places like Garachico, where the volcanic stone walls have been weathered by centuries of Atlantic storms. Your room feels authentically Canarian without being touristy about it – thick walls that actually keep things cool during the day (which you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting in summer), and windows that frame views of either the old town’s terracotta rooftops or glimpses of the harbor. The furnishings are simple but comfortable, and everything works properly, which honestly can’t be said for every three-star place on the island. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night – even though you’re right in the heart of the old town, Garachico isn’t exactly a party destination, so you’ll sleep well.

The staff here actually live in the area and can tell you things like which local restaurant serves the best papas arrugadas (it’s not the obvious one near the natural pools, by the way) and when the tide is perfect for exploring the rock formations down by the harbor. They’re not just reciting tourist board recommendations – these are people who genuinely know their neighborhood. The location is pretty much perfect for exploring Garachico’s compact historic center. You can walk to the famous volcanic rock pools in about three minutes, and the old customs house and San Francisco convent are practically next door. Plus, there’s actually decent parking nearby, which anyone who’s driven around Tenerife’s coastal towns will tell you is not something to take for granted. The whole area has this laid-back, almost forgotten quality that makes it feel like you’re experiencing the real Canary Islands rather than the resort version. Sure, it’s not fancy – don’t expect a spa or fancy cocktail bar – but that 8.8 rating makes perfect sense when you realize how rare it is to find a place that gets the basics so right while keeping that authentic local feel.

  Amazing location with a great view from the balcony and roof terrace (though it was too windy to use the terrace when we were there!). Really responsive hosts who were on hand to answer questions. The washing machine was a bonus, and they provide the best hairdryer I've ever had at a hotel/airbnb! Flat was available to enter at 2pm and check out was midday.

  Nos ha gustado todo. La ubicación muy cerca del centro, muy fácil para aparcar. Las vistas desde la casa son increíbles. La casa está muy limpia y tiene de todo. La comunicación y amabilidad de los anfitriones ha sido de 10, sobre todo la flexibilidad que nos han dado tanto para la entrada como para la salida. Recomendamos este alojamiento 100%
