You know what caught me off guard about Villa Lila? The moment I turned onto Camino Burgado, I felt like I’d stumbled into one of those hidden gems that locals probably wish tourists wouldn’t discover. This isn’t your typical Puerto de la Cruz hotel experience – it’s actually tucked away from the main tourist drag, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to get a real feel for the Canaries.
The house itself has this authentic Canarian character that you just can’t fake. I mean, we’re talking about genuine local architecture here, not some cookie-cutter resort pretending to be traditional. The owners clearly put thought into preserving what makes these old island houses special, and you can feel it the moment you walk in. What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night – you’re close enough to wander down to the coast or grab dinner in the old town, but far enough up the hill that you’re not dealing with the typical hotel corridor noise or street sounds that can drive you crazy when you’re trying to sleep off a day of exploring.
The location is actually pretty clever if you know Puerto de la Cruz at all. You’re positioned perfectly to avoid the crowds that pile up around the main plaza and beach areas, but it’s still an easy walk when you want to dive into the action. I found myself appreciating having a proper base to come back to – somewhere that feels more like staying at someone’s well-appointed home rather than just another room in a tourist mill. The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days; it’s the kind of place where small details are handled well, and the overall experience just works. Sure, it’s a 3-star property, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want – genuine comfort and character without the fuss and inflated prices of the big resort operations. The area gets this lovely evening light that hits the building just right, and there’s something about the way the place sits on that particular stretch of Camino Burgado that makes it feel both secluded and connected to the real Puerto de la Cruz at the same time.

Had a great stay. Anna & Andrzej were very helpful.
They live on-site on the upper floor of the main house.
They were there to greet us and show us around / hand the keys over.
The apartment is separate from the rest of the house, with a large patio area. Even though it was Christmas/New Year were were able to sit out each breakfast and evening meal.
We have a BBQ most nights. This was made easy with Lidl being just next door.
You don't hear any noise from it or the car park above you.
The apartment is amazingly clean and tidy.
The beds were comfortable, and part from a bit of road noise, we had good nights sleep.
What could be improved: The light in the patio area could be a bit brighter, as it is difficult to see your food on the BBQ.
This is minor as we used our phone torches.
