So I stumbled across Casita Auxilia while exploring Araya, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets it right without trying too hard. The location on Calle Las Morras is actually perfect – you’re tucked away from the main tourist drag but still close enough to walk everywhere you need to go. I mean, you’ll hear the occasional local chatter in the morning when people are heading to work, but it’s that authentic Spanish neighborhood vibe that makes you feel like you’re living there, not just visiting.

The building itself has that weathered Canarian charm – you know what I mean, those thick walls that keep everything cool even when it’s blazing outside. What struck me right away was how the owners (who actually live nearby) have managed to keep the local character while making everything work for travelers. The rooms are simple but thoughtful – proper blackout curtains because the Spanish sun is no joke, and the beds are actually comfortable, not those rock-hard European mattresses you sometimes get stuck with. There’s this little courtyard area where you can sit with your morning coffee, and I’d often see the same elderly neighbor walking her tiny dog past the gate around 8 AM like clockwork.

Parking’s pretty straightforward if you’re driving – there’s usually space on the street, though weekends can get a bit tighter when the locals are all home. The check-in process is refreshingly human – no corporate nonsense, just real people who know the area and will actually tell you where to get the best fish instead of just handing you a generic tourist map. They mentioned the little bakery two streets over that opens early, and honestly, those pastries became my daily ritual. The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find – it’s got that 8.6 rating because it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. Sure, it’s not luxury (it’s a solid 3-star), but sometimes you want a place that feels like home rather than a hotel, especially when you’re exploring somewhere as genuinely charming as this corner of the Canary Islands.

  The apartment was very clean, well equipped and had a very good size. Well equipped: even with washing machine, a big fridge, cooking stove and microwave. The staff was only contacted via WhatsApp, but they were always extremely polite.
  
  I recommend to have a rented car for the island, and the flat has good parking possibilities: we could always park in front (although we were visiting in December, I don't know the rest of the year).

  Excellent place to stay in the neighbouhood of Santa Cruz, shops and motorway at 3' reach. The apartment was tidy clean, comfortable and silent. Our hosts very helpful and kind. All the best!

  The apartement was located on the 1st floor. Parking space was easy to find on the street near to the house. The apartement was big enough and had all the utensiles for our 3 day stay. Late check-in was allowed.
  
  What could be improved: Streets, like most of the Tenerife were very steep, thus parking could be a challange for unskilled drivers. The bed was not the most comfortable one. The washing machine thore our clothes, several holes were on some of our shirts after the laundry.

  The apartment is very nice, clean, and has all we needed for our stay. Host sent us all the required information to enter the apartment, and we entered without any problems. He responded quickly to our messages and was very helpful. The neighborhood is calm, and there is no noise around.
  
  What could be improved: Location is not pedestrian-friendly, and it is advisable to have a car for faster and more flexible movement around. The bus station is very near the home but the bus goes once per hour (line 2).

  Apartamento bien equipado, fácil de encontrar y muy bien ubicado, el anfitrión muy amable. El baño equipado con secador, plancha de pelo, toallas y jabón de manos.
  La cocina con todos los amenities necesarios. Disponible plancha y tabla de planchar, mantas y almohadas suficientes. Barrio tranquilo.
  
  What could be improved: Nos salieron unos días de algo de frío, como sugerencia, no estaría de mas un calefactor para el baño, pero por lo demás, todo muy bien equipado! Muchas gracias por todo!
