When you first pull up to 27 Calle la Cruz in San Miguel de Abona, you might think you’ve taken a wrong turn – it’s tucked away in this quiet residential area that feels worlds apart from the tourist madness down in Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas. But that’s actually the whole point, and once you step inside, you’ll get why this place is pulling a 9.2 rating.

The thing about San Miguel de Abona is that it’s where actual Canarios live and work – you know, the people who serve you coffee in the resort towns then drive home to real neighborhoods with real life happening. Casita Aljibe sits right in the middle of that authenticity, which means you’re about ten minutes from the coast but surrounded by local bars where they’ll look at you funny if you order a piña colada (stick with the local wine, trust me). The hotel itself feels more like staying at your well-traveled friend’s house than some corporate chain – there’s attention to detail that you can only get when someone actually cares about the place. I mean, they’ve got this gorgeous traditional Canarian architecture thing going on, with those thick stone walls that keep everything cool even when it’s blazing outside, and you can hear the subtle sounds of the neighborhood settling in for siesta time rather than pool parties and drunk tourists.

What really sold me was the morning routine here. You wake up, step outside, and there’s this incredible view stretching toward the ocean – but it’s not the sanitized resort view you get everywhere else. You’re looking over rooftops and local gardens, maybe catching the scent of someone’s grandmother making gofio for breakfast next door. The staff actually knows the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places can’t tell you where to get decent tapas or which day the local market runs. They pointed me toward this little guachinche up the hill that I never would’ve found otherwise – the kind of place where they serve wine from plastic bottles and the mojo sauce will ruin you for anywhere else. Parking’s easy here too, which anyone who’s driven around the southern resorts will appreciate. The whole setup just works – you get that authentic Canarian experience without sacrificing comfort, and when you do want to hit the beaches or the tourist spots, you’re close enough that it’s not a hassle. Plus, staying here means you’re supporting a local business rather than some international hotel group, which honestly feels pretty good when you’re trying to be a responsible traveler.

  Ein tolles Haus! Alles ist sauber und neu. Alles was man braucht ist vorhanden. Zur Begrüssung gab es einen Sekt. Es ist total ruhig, nur gelegentlich fahren Autos vorbei. Mehrere Bus-Haltestellen in der Nähe. Die Kommunikation mit der Besitzerin hat auch gut geklappt.

  La machine à laver qui fait séchoir aussi car pas d'extérieur pour sécher le linge.
  L'appartement est magnifique, beaucoup de cachet, au calme, très confortable. Literie excellente, ce qui n'est pas souvent le cas.

  Das Haus ist sehr schnugglig und alt mit modischer Einrichtung kombiniert. Man hört gar nichts wenn man die Fenster zu hat. Es ist mit vielen liebevollen Details eingerichtet.
