Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Caserío de Guaza? It’s actually tucked away in this spot where most tourists don’t accidentally stumble upon it – you’re on the TF-66 road between the busier parts of Tenerife, and suddenly there’s this low-rise complex that feels more like a traditional Canarian village than a typical hotel. I mean, the name literally translates to “hamlet of Guaza,” which gives you an idea of what they’re going for here.

The location is honestly pretty clever when you think about it. You’re in Palm-mar, which – let’s be real – isn’t exactly a household name like Playa de las Américas or Los Cristianos, but that’s actually the point. It’s close enough to the southern airport that you’re not doing some epic journey with your luggage, but far enough from the party zones that you can actually sleep at night. The property sits on this finca called “Guaza Abajo,” and you can tell they’ve tried to keep that rural, authentic feel even though it’s a proper 4-star place. The buildings are spread out with these traditional Canarian architectural touches – white walls, wooden balconies, that sort of thing – instead of being one massive concrete block.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to maintain that 8.4 rating without being flashy about it. The pools (there are several) are positioned so you’re not staring directly into someone’s balcony, and there’s actually some landscaping that doesn’t look like it was installed yesterday. Parking isn’t a nightmare, which honestly matters more than people think when you’re dealing with rental cars and narrow Spanish streets. The rooms themselves feel spacious – not just European-standard spacious, but genuinely comfortable. Air conditioning works properly, which you definitely need during the summer months, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t mysteriously disappear every time more than five people try to use it.

Here’s the thing about this area though – you’ll want a car or at least be comfortable with taxis, because while it’s peaceful, you’re not walking to a bunch of restaurants and bars. There’s a small commercial area in Palm-mar itself, but for the real dining scene, you’re looking at a short drive to places like Los Cristianos. The upside? The nearby coastline is much less crowded, and if you’re into hiking, you’ve got some great trails heading up toward the Guaza mountain that most tourists never see. The staff seems to actually know the area well – not just the typical tourist traps – so they can point you toward some genuinely good local spots if you ask.

I’d say this place works best for people who want a proper hotel experience but don’t need to be in the thick of everything. It’s got that relaxed, almost residential feel during the day, but with hotel services when you need them. The kind of place where you can have a quiet morning coffee without someone’s playlist bleeding over from the next balcony, but still feel like you’re getting your money’s worth from the facilities and service.

We loved the peaceful location which was set on a banana plantation with easy access to the main roads. The garden was beautiful, and inside the property was clean, minimal and a good size for us. The host was easily contactable and gave great instructions prior to visiting. We felt safe at the location at all times.
