Casa Vistamar, Amazing Sea Views and Private Pool

So I stumbled across Casa Vistamar last spring when I was looking for somewhere to stay in Las Aguas, and honestly? This place completely exceeded what I expected from the photos. The thing is, when you’re driving down Calle la Destila – which is this narrow, winding street that locals use to cut between the main coastal road and the old fishing quarter – you almost miss it. But then you see this gorgeous whitewashed villa perched right on the cliff edge, and you know you’ve found something special.

The sea views are absolutely ridiculous. I mean, I’ve stayed at plenty of coastal hotels, but this is different. From the moment you walk through the front door, you’re looking straight out at this endless stretch of Atlantic that just goes on forever. The private pool area is where I spent most of my mornings – it’s positioned perfectly so you can float around while watching the fishing boats head out around 6 AM (which sounds early, but it’s actually quite peaceful). The pool itself isn’t huge, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s more about the setting than the size, you know? And the fact that it’s heated year-round is a game-changer if you’re visiting during the cooler months.

What really impressed me was how the staff – there’s this lovely woman named Carmen who seems to know everyone in town – actually gave me proper local recommendations. Not the touristy stuff, but real places. She told me about this tiny tapas bar called El Rincón that’s literally a five-minute walk down toward the harbor, where the fishermen grab their morning coffee. And she was right about the sunset timing too – apparently the best views from the villa happen around 7:30 PM in summer when the light hits the water just right. The rooms themselves are beautifully done, sort of modern Mediterranean style without being sterile. My room had this amazing stone bathroom with rainfall shower, and the bed was positioned so you wake up looking directly out at the ocean. Only minor complaint? The WiFi can be a bit spotty in some rooms (though honestly, when you’re looking at views like that, do you really need Instagram?). Parking was easier than I expected – there’s a small lot behind the building, which is a blessing because street parking in Las Aguas can be… well, let’s just say it’s an adventure. Check-in was smooth, and they had this nice touch of leaving local wine and cheese in the room, which I appreciated after the drive from the airport. If you’re thinking about staying here, book directly with them if you can – they often throw in little extras like late checkout or complimentary breakfast that the booking sites don’t mention.

  La casa, las vistas, la ubicación todo en general, no puedo decir que me ha gustado más, hemos pasado unos días estupendos, y que decir de Marta, la anfitriona perfecta, siempre pendiente y dispuesta a ayudar en lo que sea posible.
