Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Tenerife, but Casa Tia Julia really caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place and cross your fingers it’ll be decent? Well, this actually exceeded what I was hoping for. It’s tucked away on Calle San José in San Andrés – and honestly, if you don’t know this little fishing village, you’re missing out on one of the island’s best-kept secrets. The house itself feels like staying at someone’s beloved aunt’s place (which, given the name, might be exactly what’s happening here). Four people fit comfortably without that cramped vacation rental feeling, and the whole setup just works. I mean, you’ve got your own space, your own rhythm, none of that hotel lobby awkwardness.

But here’s the real kicker – Las Teresitas beach is literally right there. And I’m talking about the good beach, the one with the imported golden sand from the Sahara that most tourists never find because they’re too busy fighting crowds in the south. Early morning walks along that shoreline? Pure magic. The locals start their day with coffee at the little bars nearby, and by 8 AM you can smell fresh bread from the bakery down the street. What really sold me though was how quiet it gets at night – you’ll hear the waves, sure, but none of that party noise you get in the tourist zones. Parking’s actually manageable here too, which anyone who’s driven around Santa Cruz will appreciate. The house has that lived-in comfort that makes you want to cook dinner instead of eating out every night, though honestly, the seafood restaurants within walking distance are pretty tempting. I spent more time on the terrace with morning coffee than I planned, watching the fishermen head out while the mountain backdrop changes color with the light.

What strikes me most is how this place gets the balance right – it’s polished enough that everything works (good wifi, proper shower pressure, that sort of thing), but it doesn’t feel sterile or over-designed. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where people actually live, not some resort bubble. The 8.4 rating makes sense when you experience it firsthand – it’s not trying to be luxury, it’s just genuinely good at what it does. If you want to feel like you’re actually in the Canary Islands instead of just visiting them, and you appreciate having Las Teresitas as your backyard, this is your spot. Just don’t expect it to stay a secret forever.

Reviews

  • We enjoyed the week here. – Bohumil from Czech Republic – 30 January 2025 (9/10)

Atmosphere of this small apartment was great. We felt like locals. In apartment you can find all you need. Because we were family of five members with small kids, we appreciate some toys. Location is great for being on beach or traveling over the island.

What could be improved: There were nothing what was not mentioned in the advertisement. Kitchen and shower are small, but we managed. Parking is not so easy, but whole week we found place on the street or behind the corner.

  • Very good – Edward from United Kingdom – 24 November 2024 (8/10)

Great location for the beach, easy keyless access, very helpful host. I liked it a lot and would stay here again.

  • Superb – Dominika from Poland – 16 July 2024 (9/10)

A small but comfortable apartment that has everything you need. Very clean. A nice welcome with local wine, very good contact with the owners. Air conditioning in both bedrooms, which is crucial especially for the one on the ground floor. Thank you for a pleasant stay and we recommend it!

  • Very pleasant accommodation in a beautiful, quiet location with an atmosphere. – Dagmar from Czech Republic – 21 June 2023 (9/10)

Living in a beautiful place with an authentic atmosphere. Apartment in a quiet street right next to a small square with a children's playground in the shade of trees. The apartment was equipped to the smallest detail. We found almost everything in the apartment – basic food, umbrella, sand toys, children's tracks, bouncer, etc. Welcome wine. The beach is a short walk away and several shops are also around the corner.

  • Very good – Ruta from Lithuania – 16 February 2023 (8/10)

Perfect location, beautiful and cosy small town, close to golden Las Teresitas beach and Anaga forests. Extremelly well equiped, friendly owner!

What could be improved: It is located in two floors, what wasn't comfortable with small kids, as main bedroom is downstairs ans kids room on the 2nd floor. Kitchen and toilet close together. Little dark and you can hear neighbourhoud very well. But all those houses look the same. Without parking space.

  • Traditional home in a fantastic village location – Coralie from United Kingdom – 20 November 2022 (8/10)

Great location, comfy. Nearby beach is wonderful. Friendly neighbourhood

What could be improved: The property is very tiny – but the owners have made the most of the space

  • Very good – Linda from Slovakia – 29 September 2022 (8/10)

A cozy house with a large covered terrace, sufficient equipment, pleasant owner and everything is available near the accommodation (food, beach, restaurants, parking)

  • Very good – Neja from Slovenia – 23 January 2025 (8/10)

Location is great, near the beach. Host is very kind.

What could be improved: The apartment was dirty, everything in the kitchen was sticky, alot of little flies. Even the floor and beds were not really clean.

  • Exceptional – Kārkliņš from Latvia – 8 March 2023 (10/10)

Everything is fine. Near nice beach.

  • Nice choice in San Andres – practical and close to everything – David from Norway – 26 December 2022 (10/10)

Practical apartment, with a small roof terrace. Walking distance to everything (San Andres is a small place).
Very helpful host! Washing machine was a big help with kids.

There are a few comments that the place is small. We were 4 and did not feel
it small – and after all you spend most of the time discovering the neighborhood.
