I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Casa Sara, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another apartment building on Calle Júpiter. But here’s the thing about La Orotava that locals will tell you: the real gems are tucked away in these residential streets, and Casa Sara is exactly that kind of pleasant surprise. You’re on the fifth floor (there’s an elevator, thank god), and the moment you step into 5C, you get why this place consistently pulls in those solid 8+ ratings.

What actually impressed me most was how thoughtfully everything’s been set up – I mean, someone clearly put real consideration into what travelers actually need. The kitchen isn’t just for show like in so many places; it’s got proper cookware and decent counter space, which matters if you’re planning to hit the Saturday market in Plaza de la Constitución and want to cook with some of that incredible local produce. The location thing is interesting too – you’re genuinely in a neighborhood where people live, not some touristy bubble. There’s a little supermarket just down the street, and honestly, you’ll probably hear actual Spanish conversations from your windows rather than just other tourists. The old town’s historic center is maybe a ten-minute walk, but you know what? Sometimes it’s nice to come back to somewhere that feels a bit more real.

The space itself has that comfortable, lived-in quality that makes you want to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it. Decent WiFi, surprisingly good water pressure, and – this might sound weird but it matters – the beds are actually comfortable, not those rock-hard European mattresses you sometimes get stuck with. Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of town (welcome to the Canary Islands), but the host gives you proper directions, not just a vague “find somewhere on the street.” I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and the place was quiet enough to sleep well but still felt connected to the neighborhood rhythm. If you’re the type who wants to experience La Orotava like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through, Casa Sara gets that balance right.

  Also, basic commodities like salt, olive oil, paper towels, etc., should be made available although this did not affect our stay.

  What could be improved: Och, to grodzenie budynków, zamykanie, bramki, klucze, kraty. Mogłoby tego nie być, bo niepotrzebnie komplikuje wejście do apartamentu i jego opuszczenie, zmusza do dodatkowego obciążenia kontaktami telefonicznymi z obsługą, skądinąd pomocną.
  Wystrój wnętrza nie do końca w szczegółach w moim guście, sporo kiczu,
  ale dało się wytrzymać.
  I jeszcze to poranne koszenie trawy pod budynkiem, do gołej ziemi, niepotrzebny hałas i smętny skutek.

  El personal muy atento, cuando llegamos no había cuna y al rato nos trajeron una a estrenar. La ubicación buena, y la zona tranquila, junto a la carretera que lleva al Teide, y cerca de la autovía.

  La distribución de la vivienda,que tenía de todo lo necesario en la casa, cocina bien equipada.
  Que tuviera ascensor fue crucial para mis necesidades.No hubo problema en la zona para aparcar.

  What could be improved: Todo genial.Lo único a comentar la operación de dejar la llave al irnos un jaleo,bajar y abrir la calle y alguien sujetar la puerta para subir de dejar las llaves y poder salir,pero bueno,la estancia estuvo genial.
