You know what struck me first about Casa Pirámide 2? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – you can see the ancient Guanche pyramids from the terrace, which honestly wasn’t something I expected when I booked this place in Icod de los Vinos. I mean, most people come to this part of Tenerife for the famous dragon tree, but staying here gives you this whole different perspective on the area’s history. The location on Carretera Santa Barbara is perfect because you’re close enough to walk into the old town (maybe 10 minutes if you don’t mind a slight uphill trek), but far enough away that you actually get some peace and quiet. The private parking situation is clutch – and I can’t stress this enough if you’re planning to rent a car, which you absolutely should in this part of the island. Street parking around here can be… well, let’s just say it’s not fun trying to squeeze into tiny Spanish mountain town spaces.

The terrace is really where this place shines, especially if you time it right around sunset. I spent way too many evenings up there with a glass of local wine, watching the light change over the valley and honestly just feeling grateful I wasn’t crammed into some resort down by the coast. The WiFi works great up there too, which surprised me – I was expecting the usual Spanish mountain connectivity issues, but I actually got work done while enjoying the view. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, which works for me. It’s clean, the kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook (there’s a decent little market in town), and the beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with the usual travel back pain. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you hear crickets and maybe some distant conversation from the terrace below, but none of the chaos you get closer to the tourist zones.

Here’s the thing about Icod that most visitors don’t realize: it’s actually one of the better bases for exploring the northern part of Tenerife. You’re about 20 minutes from some incredible hiking trails, the coast is right there when you want beach time, and the whole area feels authentically Canarian rather than tourist-trapped. Casa Pirámide 2 gets this – it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top, just a solid, comfortable place to crash after days of exploring. The host was responsive when I had questions, check-in was straightforward, and honestly, for what you pay, it’s hard to find better value in this part of the island. I’ve stayed in fancier places that left me feeling less satisfied, you know? Sometimes you just want somewhere that feels real, works properly, and doesn’t cost a fortune – this place delivers on all three counts.

  The private terrace.
  The common terrace with sun loungers and an amazing view.
  The cleanliness, the attention to details in terms of facilities provided were great (umbrellas, extra blankets, ironing board and iron, electric radiator for the chilly days, glasses, cutlery, pans, pots, mokka pot, kettle etc.).
  Wine, water, milk, coffee and lots of snacks provided.
  Great communication and friendliness from the host.
  The property's gate system is automatic and has sensors which allows cars to stay part in/part out for as long as needed in order to give priority to street traffic.
  
  What could be improved: No mat in the bathroom, it would be nice during winter.
  No tea (not expected, but since plenty of coffee is offered, I think that a couple of herbal tea bags would also be amazing for tea lovers).

  Tutto era pronto, pulito, ordinato. Bellissimo il kit di benvenuto con vino e cioccolatini. Poi c'era acqua, latte, dolci, caffè, the per la colazione. Inoltre c'era olio, sale e pepe. Cucina super fornita. Camere belle, spaziose e confortevoli. Check-in automatico molto comodo. Parcheggio favoloso. Spazi esterni utilissimi. Lavatrice, detersivi… perfino giochi per bambini e frigo da viaggio!
