Hotel Description

So I stumbled across Casa-Palo-Pique completely by accident while driving the old road to La Vega – you know, that winding route most tourists skip because they stick to the main highway. Honestly, I’m glad I got a bit lost that day because this little three-star gem turned out to be one of those places that just gets everything right without trying too hard. The name itself had me curious (apparently it’s some local reference that the owner explained to me, though I’ll admit I was jetlagged and only half-listening), but what really caught my attention was how perfectly it sits in Icod de los Vinos, just far enough from the dragon tree crowds but close enough that you can actually walk there if you’re feeling energetic.

The thing about this place – and I mean this in the best way – is that it feels like someone’s well-traveled relative decided to open a hotel. The rooms have that lived-in comfort without being shabby, and honestly, the beds are better than some four-star places I’ve stayed at in Madrid. What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night; you’re on Carretera Vieja, which sounds like it should be busy, but it’s actually pretty peaceful once the evening settles in. The staff genuinely seems to know the area – not just the obvious tourist spots, but they pointed me toward this incredible local restaurant tucked away in the old town that I never would have found otherwise. And parking? No drama whatsoever, which if you’ve ever tried to navigate a rental car through some of these Canarian towns, you’ll appreciate.

I’ll be honest, when I first saw it was a three-star, I wasn’t expecting much – sometimes that rating can be code for “basic and forgettable.” But Casa-Palo-Pique punches way above its weight class. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, it’s just really good at being a comfortable base for exploring this part of Tenerife. The breakfast situation is solid (proper coffee, thank goodness), and they’ve got this little terrace area where you can sit with a drink and watch the locals go about their evening routines. What sealed it for me was realizing I could easily reach the coast for morning swims, pop over to the volcanic landscapes for hiking, or just wander Icod’s streets without feeling like I was staying in some tourist bubble. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels like too much effort – and honestly, why would you want to?

Reviews

  • Best holiday ever! – Justina from Lithuania – 4 February 2025 (10/10)

Calm and quiet place. We loved the view, the balcony, kitchen was fully equiped and we had everything we needed for our 7 days stay. Host was friendly and informative. By the way, if you plan to stay here, car is a must.

  • Exceptional – George from Romania – 16 September 2024 (10/10)

We had the pleasure to stay in the bungalow. The accommodation was really nice, with an incredible view.

What could be improved: All was great, nothing to complain. Maybe some door sealing would be great to keep the small insects out of the house.

  • Great stay in Tenerife – Justyna from Spain – 29 February 2024 (9/10)

Very cozy apartment with a spectacular view. A lot of amenities at the property like swimming pool (small but clean and with an amazing view), sunbeds, towels (even for the beach), hairdryer, laundry room. Elke was super helpful and available at all times. The location is a bit further from the center but this gives you incredible views, peace and silence in the mornings. Highly recommend.

What could be improved: The only downside is that the walls are thin so if there's anybody in the room next to yours, you will hear everything they do. Not a big problem if you're not planning to stay in the whole day.

  • Exceptional – Mikulas from Slovakia – 10 December 2023 (10/10)

perfect position in green area, Adeje 40 min, Puerto de la Cruz 30 min, Icod beach 5-10 min,, car necessary, pool and garden with great view to ocean and Teide

What could be improved: the walls between appts not enough to stop the voices and noise from neigbourgs, but not big problem for us

  • good value for money – Ivan from Spain – 10 September 2023 (9/10)

What could be improved: the swimming pool looked bigger in pictures

  • Peace and quiet. – Alexandra from Romania – 9 May 2023 (10/10)

the location itself was wonderful. So much green vegetation, trees, flowers. It was what we needed for the staying.

  • Exceptional – Primož from Slovenia – 7 November 2023 (10/10)

Very nice and comfortable apartment with beautifull sea and El Teide view. The host is super nice too. We really recommend this place.

  • Very pleasant stay . – Yvan from France – 8 February 2023 (8/10)

Sight with the veranda and sea view is very pleasant with twilight that is the luxe five stars and i was very happy for that .

What could be improved: Mobil home is fragile sound with rain , neighbours but is not a big problem neighbours was quiet and me too .

  • Good place to stay if you like a quiet location away from the tourist crowds. – Olaf from France – 15 January 2025 (7/10)

This apartment has everything you need but the equipment is very basic IKEA style.
Corresponds to the description and the pictures.
Very nice view and an outside terrace.
As it is located somewhat higher up requires a car to go out.

What could be improved: Sound isolation between the 3 apartments is not good.
If you are unlucky with noisy neighbours you are happy they leave.

  • picking up caterpillars – Ana from Slovenia – 17 October 2022 (4/10)

it has a beautiful view on the sea.

What could be improved: on the first day that we came it was around 23:00 and everything looked great at first.
but in the next morning we saw that nothing was cleaned..dirty floor, dirty dishes and utensils also glasses, and the apartment has a lot of caterpillars I’m talking hundred of them so this was very disgusting they also had a nest in our bedroom behing a closet. That was a huge minus for use 1 or 10 or maybe even some more is acceptable i guess but we were picking them up every 10 or so minutes…same story is with balcony..just sad.
all in all our time in tenerife was amazing but this place was far from clean.

picture below was taken 3minuter after spraying behing the closet and its not the final view.
it was daily routine and in the pisctures is just a closet corner and balcony but they were in every room.
