Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in the Canary Islands, but Casa Micaela in Tacoronte honestly surprised me. You know how sometimes you book a place and cross your fingers it’ll be decent? Well, this one actually delivered – and then some. The moment I walked up to the entrance on Calle San Nicolás, I could tell someone really cared about the details here. It’s not flashy or trying too hard, just solid and welcoming in that way that makes you immediately relax your shoulders.

What really got me was how perfectly positioned this place is. I mean, Tacoronte isn’t exactly on every tourist’s radar, but that’s honestly part of its charm. You’re about twenty minutes from the chaos of Puerto de la Cruz (which is great when you want it), but you’re also right in the heart of wine country – and I’m talking about the real deal here. The local vineyards around here produce some of the best Listán Negro you’ll ever taste, and the hotel staff actually knows which ones are worth visiting. They pointed me toward a tiny bodega about ten minutes away that doesn’t even have a proper sign. The kind of place where the winemaker’s grandmother still helps with harvest.

The rooms themselves feel like someone’s well-traveled aunt decorated them – thoughtful without being fussy. My room had this amazing view toward the coast, and honestly, watching the sunrise over the Atlantic while having coffee on the little balcony became my daily ritual. The bed was properly comfortable (not too soft, not like sleeping on concrete), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works. Small thing, but you know how rare that is. The WiFi was solid too, which mattered since I was trying to work remotely for part of my stay.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the noise level. Even though you’re right in town, the street is quiet enough that you can sleep with the windows open if you want that ocean breeze. The only sounds are the occasional local heading to work early morning and maybe some distant church bells. It’s the kind of peaceful that makes you remember why you wanted to travel in the first place. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around these winding Canarian streets will appreciate.

The staff deserves a mention – they’re genuinely helpful without hovering. When I mentioned I was interested in hiking, they didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. Instead, they sketched out a route to some hidden viewpoints above town and warned me about which trails get muddy after rain. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t Google.

I stayed here in late October, which turned out to be perfect timing. The summer crowds were gone, but the weather was still beautiful for exploring. The nearby restaurants were back to focusing on locals rather than tourists, which meant better food and more authentic experiences. If you’re looking for a place that feels genuinely connected to Tenerife rather than just planted on top of it, Casa Micaela gets it right. It’s not trying to be everything to everyone – it’s just being really good at what it is.

Reviews

  • Pueblo acogedor y tranquilo – Jose from Spain – 7 March 2025 (8/10)

  • Exceptional – Elena from Spain – 14 August 2024 (10/10)

El pueblo nos encantó, vistas espectaculares

What could be improved: Al ser calles muy inclinadas..los coches hacen mucho ruido al subir cuando pasan por la casa, sea la hora que sea.
