Hotel Description
You know what? I almost walked past Casa Maria the first time I was looking for it – it’s tucked up on the second floor of a building on Avenida Quinto Centenario, and honestly, from street level you’d never guess there’s this gem waiting upstairs. But once you climb those stairs and step inside, it’s like discovering a secret that locals have been keeping to themselves.
The thing about Puerto de Santiago is that it’s not your typical Tenerife tourist trap – I mean, you’re still close enough to Los Gigantes (literally a five-minute walk) to see those insane cliffs that everyone posts on Instagram, but you’re staying somewhere that feels more… authentic, I guess? The owners clearly know their stuff because they’ve managed to create this space that feels like staying at a friend’s really nice apartment rather than some sterile hotel. The rooms have this warm, lived-in quality – proper Spanish tiles, decent-sized windows that actually open (you’d be surprised how many places seal you in), and the kind of comfortable beds that make you want to skip your morning hike up to Masca. The whole place smells faintly of that Spanish cleaning product they use everywhere – sounds weird, but it’s oddly comforting after a while.
What really gets me is how they’ve nailed the little things that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The WiFi works properly (tested it on video calls – no issues), there’s enough plug points near the bed for your phone and camera, and the shower pressure is honestly better than my apartment back home. Parking can be a bit tricky on this street – it’s one of those narrow Spanish roads where you’re playing tetris with your rental car – but there’s usually something within a block or two if you’re patient. The area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which is perfect if you’re planning to crash early before hitting the hiking trails, but you’re still close enough to the harbor restaurants that you can hear a bit of life in the evenings. I actually loved falling asleep to the distant sound of people finishing their dinners at the seafood places down by the water.
Here’s the thing though – and this is why I keep coming back to this area instead of staying up in the busier parts of the island – you’re positioned perfectly to do the whole Los Gigantes experience without dealing with the crowds first thing in the morning. You can walk down to catch the dolphin boats before the tour buses arrive, grab proper coffee at that little place near the marina (not the tourist one, the one where Spanish guys read newspapers), and still be back for an afternoon siesta when the sun gets too intense. The 9.2 rating makes total sense when you realize these people have figured out how to give you a proper local experience without sacrificing the comfort stuff that makes or breaks a holiday. It’s not fancy in that Instagram-perfect way, but it’s the kind of place where everything just works the way it should.

Absolutely everything!
The host was fantastic. She was so helpful and caring. The facilities were so well stocked and provided lots of additional extras. The kitchen etc was very well equipped, both in terms of some food to start off the holiday, along with the actual utensils needed for cooking. The house was very clean and spacious. The top terrace was great for sunbathing and was safe for little children. It did cloud over in the afternoon most days, however we just hopped on the bus down to the beach to catch some extra rays.
Communication was exceptional. Maria checked in to make sure everything was ok. She answered any questions we had.
We will absolutely be back!A from United States (10/10)
My stay at Casa Maria in Granadilla de Abona, like you will read in other reviews, was spectacular. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the pristine condition of the house—everything was immaculately clean and well-maintained, reflecting the care and attention to detail of the hosts, María and Fernando.
The house itself is spacious, offering plenty of room to relax and unwind. It's ideally located for those seeking peace and quiet, far from the usual touristic, noisy hotspots. If you're looking for a serene retreat where you can enjoy privacy, silence, and a sea view, this is the place to be.
María and Fernando were incredibly warm and welcoming. Upon arrival, I was delighted to find the fridge fully stocked with enough food for a hearty dinner and breakfast—a thoughtful gesture that truly sets Casa Maria apart. They’ve gone above and beyond to ensure guests have everything they might need during their stay, from essentials like olive oil and toilet paper to beach chairs and even diving gear.
What makes Casa Maria truly special is that it’s a family-owned guest house. By staying here, you’re directly supporting the local economy and not some faceless corporation. For those who appreciate authentic experiences and want to make a positive impact, this is a fantastic choice.
Thank you, María and Fernando, for a wonderful stay—I will definitely be back!Anouk from Netherlands (10/10)

Małgorzata from Poland (10/10)
Bardzo ładny domek na pięknej wyspie. Łatwy dojazd. Wszystko czego potrzeba a nawet więcej.

Wygodne łóżka i kuchnia z jadalnią. Właściciel był bardzo pomocny i sympatyczny. Dziękujemy za wino i przekąski. Lokalizacja dobra do zwiedzania wyspy. Cisza w okolicy, więc dobrze się spało. Miejsce na auto pod samym domem. Dziękujemy za gościnę.
