You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Casa Joy on Calle Vistabella – I mean, it’s tucked away in this quiet corner of Acojeja that most tourists completely miss on their way to the flashier resorts. But honestly, that’s exactly what makes this place special. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s hard to find in the busier parts of Tenerife. The owners clearly put thought into every detail without making it feel precious or over-designed.

The location is actually brilliant once you understand the area. Sure, you’re not stumbling out onto a beach promenade, but you’re perfectly positioned between the coast and the mountains – which means you can hit Playa de la Arena in about ten minutes if you want that black sand beach experience, or head up toward Teide if you’re feeling adventurous. The drive through the winding roads gives you these incredible glimpses of the ocean that you’d pay premium prices for elsewhere. Plus, being in Acojeja means you’re living like locals do, not trapped in some tourist bubble. There’s a little supermarket within walking distance, and the bar down the street serves the kind of bocadillos that make you question why you ever ate hotel breakfast.

What really gets me about Casa Joy is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between comfort and authenticity. The rooms have this warm, lived-in feeling – not sterile like so many three-star places – and the beds are actually good (you know how hotel beds can be a total gamble). The Wi-Fi works properly, which sounds basic but trust me, it’s not always a given in these smaller Canarian towns. I love that you can hear the town come alive in the morning – church bells, kids heading to school, the daily rhythms of a real place. It’s never loud enough to be annoying, just enough to remind you that you’re somewhere with actual character. The staff treats you like family rather than room numbers, and they know the island well enough to point you toward hidden gems you’d never find otherwise. With that 9.7 rating, I expected it to be good, but I didn’t expect to feel so at home. If you’re the type who wants to experience Tenerife beyond the resort scene but still sleep comfortably at night, this is your spot.

  We had a wonderful holiday in this cottage and are happy to leave a positive review. The house is very well equipped – we had everything we needed, with every detail thoughtfully arranged for guests' comfort. A big plus is the private garden, which gave us plenty of space and the perfect setting to relax outdoors. The area is quiet and peaceful, ideal for unwinding. The host was very kind and helpful, and communication was smooth. We definitely recommend this place and would love to come back!

  We had a very nice stay. The host was super nice and helpful. The house offers everything you need. What's always really important is a nice bathroom and that was definitely the case. Super modern and perfectly clean.

  We only recommend to get a car when staying there, it is possible with public transport but it would be easier and faster to get to bigger cities by car. 😊

  Beautiful, comfortable and clean detached cottage in a very calm area but close (by car) to services and beaches. Hiking trails nearby and easy access to Teide. The garden is spacious and perfect to relax, with views to the sea and La Gomera. The kitchen is well-equipped to cook in the apartment. The hosts were really kind, quickly addressed all our requests; there was a wind storm that damaged some of the garden decoration, but when it finished they immediately came to arrange everything as it was before. Also the dogs are lovely.

  La struttura era molto accogliente immerso in un silenzio idilliaco. Dal giardino si gode di una bella vista. Joy è stato molto disponibile nel fornire informazioni sui ristoranti disponibili nella zona. Ci si trova abbastanza vicini alla zona molto frequentata di costa Adeje senza percepirne l'affollamento.
  
  What could be improved: L'unica nota forse dolente è la strada molto ripida e stretta che si deve percorrere nel tratto finale. In ogni caso è ben asfaltata e l'abbiamo affrontata senza problemi con una fiat 500
