Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Casa Higopico on that stretch of road between Tejina and Tacoronte, I wasn’t expecting much. The area feels sort of tucked away from the main tourist chaos, which actually turned out to be exactly what I needed. You know what struck me first? How quiet it was, even though you’re literally minutes from the TF-5 highway. The building itself has this understated charm – it’s not trying to be some flashy resort, just a solid place that knows what it’s doing.

The location is actually pretty clever if you think about it. Most people rush straight to the southern beaches or get stuck in the Puerto de la Cruz crowds, but staying here puts you right in the heart of wine country – I mean, you’re surrounded by some of Tenerife’s best vineyards without even realizing it. The staff seemed genuinely surprised when I mentioned I’d walked down to explore the local bodegas (there’s a decent path if you don’t mind a bit of a hike). Honestly, the whole Tacoronte-Acentejo wine region is right at your doorstep, and nobody talks about that in the typical tourist guides. Plus, you can actually get to both the north and south parts of the island pretty easily from here – took me about 20 minutes to reach the coast at Mesa del Mar, which has this great little black sand beach that’s usually empty.

What really sold me on the place was the attention to small details that actually matter. The rooms are properly soundproofed – I slept better than I had in weeks, and trust me, I’m usually a light sleeper. The air conditioning works without sounding like a jet engine, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your stuff, which seems rare these days. I particularly appreciated that they don’t blast you with that overly enthusiastic hospitality – the check-in was smooth, straightforward, no upselling or lengthy explanations of obvious things. The breakfast was solid too, though I’d recommend heading out to explore the local cafés if you’re into that sort of thing. There’s this little place in Tacoronte center that does incredible barraquito if you’re willing to drive five minutes.

The 8.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but it gets the fundamentals right in a way that feels refreshingly honest. If you’re the type who wants to actually experience Tenerife beyond the resort bubble, this works really well as a base. Just don’t expect resort-style amenities or evening entertainment – this is more about having a comfortable, well-located spot to rest between actually exploring the island.

  We felt welcomed. We found there some treats for us and beautiful fresh flowers in a vase. Communication was easy, check in and out was very easy. The accommodation was spacious, sparkling clean. The house is on the side of the street and the traffic in this small town is quite busy, but it didn't bother us. Note that there is no ceilings between one of the bedrooms, living room and bathroom, it was totally ok with us. We park the car right next to the house on the street. Gracias!

  Fuimos a una boda y la ubicacion era perfecta. Se ve que el alojamiento esta equipado con todo lo que puedas necesitar y electrodomésticos nuevos y tambien el baño.
  Detalles que nos dejaron los anfitriones (platanos y naranjas, tirmas asi como lo necesario para hacernos un cafe y hasta una botella de agua). Otro punto a favor, son la cantidad grande de toallas que tienes a tu disposicion. La cama y la almohada muy cómoda.
  
  What could be improved: La habitacion principal no estaba cerrada completamente del salon/cocina, por lo que dificultaba la intimidad asi como el descanso; ya qje si alguien esta viendo la tele puede no dejarte descansar.
  En las habitaciones había tapones oara los oidos por lo que indicaba que iba a haber ruido del exterior y asi fue por la noche.

  ישנו בדירה שני לילות. קל למצוא אותה, יש חניה ברחוב ליד, בלי בעיות. הדירה מאובזרת פשוט בהכל. לא היה חסר כלום.
  ללא ספק אמליץ עליה, ומצטערים שלא שהינו בה יותר.
  
  What could be improved: יש טיפה רעש מהכביש, אבל המארחים נתנו אפילו אטמי אוזניים(לא השתמשנו, ישנו מצויין)..

  Se trata de una casa muy cómoda con todo lo necesario para pasar unos días. Estaba muy limpio, en una zona tranquila y es bastante amplio. Se puede aparcar cerca de la casa. Ya habíamos estado y repetiremos seguro.

  Casa che offre la miglior accoglienza mai ricevuta qui, accolti con cesto di frutta e barrette, capsule del caffe, detersivi ed ogni extra possibile era presente.
  Veramente una delle più belle in cui sia mai stato, senza strafare ma tutto davvero soddisfacente.

  What could be improved: Unica pecca la posizione un filo defilata, ma se si è auto-muniti non è assolutamente un contro anzi, punto molto strategico per visitare tutto il nord dell'isola
