Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Casa Fernando? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street in Granadilla de Abona that honestly feels like you’ve stumbled into the real Tenerife – not the touristy bits everyone talks about. When I rolled up to 11 Calle Tamarco, I actually drove past it twice because it doesn’t scream “hotel” at you. It’s more like someone’s really elegant family home that they decided to share with travelers who appreciate something genuinely special.

The thing about this place is that it sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to the coast (maybe 10 minutes to the black sand beaches) but far enough inland that you get these incredible views of the countryside rolling toward Teide. The owners – and I mean this in the best way – are the kind of people who remember your name from day one and somehow know exactly when you need restaurant recommendations versus when you just want to be left alone with your coffee on the terrace. The rooms have this understated luxury thing going on – nothing flashy, but everything just works perfectly. I’m talking about those little details like really good water pressure, blackout curtains that actually block light, and beds that make you question why you ever leave them.

What really sets Casa Fernando apart, though, is how it feels like you’re staying somewhere locals would actually recommend to their friends. The breakfast (which honestly spoiled me for hotel breakfast everywhere else) features a lot of local ingredients, and they’ll point you toward the Saturday market in town or this little family-run restaurant about five minutes away that doesn’t even have a sign but serves the best papas arrugadas I’ve had on the island. The parking situation is hassle-free – something you’ll appreciate if you’ve dealt with the narrow streets in some of the coastal towns. And here’s something I didn’t expect: the evenings are incredibly peaceful. You might hear some distant conversation from the terrace below or the occasional car, but it’s the kind of ambient sound that actually helps you sleep better. I stayed here during what I later learned was peak season, and it never felt crowded or rushed. The staff has this relaxed professionalism that makes you feel like you’re visiting friends rather than checking into a hotel. By the time I left, I was already planning my return trip – and I’m not usually that person.
