Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Casa en Finca Ecológica on Calle Tizon, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name’s a bit of a mouthful, and finding it tucked away in La Orotava took some doing (GPS got me close, but you know how these older Spanish streets can be). But once I actually got inside, I mean… this place surprised me in the best way possible.

What you’re getting here isn’t your typical hotel experience – it’s more like staying at someone’s really well-thought-out countryside retreat. The whole ecological angle isn’t just marketing speak either; they actually walk the walk with solar panels, water conservation, and this gorgeous organic garden that honestly made me wish I had a green thumb. The WiFi works great, which I was genuinely worried about given how tucked away this place feels from the main tourist strips. You’re still in La Orotava proper, but it’s got this peaceful, almost rural vibe that’s hard to find these days. The rooms are simple but comfortable – think clean lines, natural materials, and those little touches that show someone actually cares about the details.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the owners clearly know their stuff about the area. They pointed me toward this incredible hiking trail that starts practically from their back door (saves you the drive up to the more crowded Teide access points), and they were spot-on about the best times to visit the local botanical gardens – early morning before the tour buses arrive, if you’re wondering. The breakfast isn’t elaborate, but it’s fresh and local, and honestly, sitting on their terrace with proper coffee while looking out over the valley… well, it beats fighting for a table at some overcrowded hotel buffet. Parking’s easy too, which anyone who’s driven around the Canary Islands will tell you is no small thing. The only minor downside? It can get pretty quiet at night – if you’re looking for nightlife, you’ll want to head into town proper, but that’s maybe a 10-minute walk down the hill. For me, that was actually perfect, but I know some people prefer to be right in the thick of things.

  I highly recommend this apartment to people who prefer to live in the countryside. It is far away from the crowds and close enough to visit the city on foot if you don’t want to drive. The road to the cottage is steep and narrow, but you get used to it. If you are going to rent a car, I recommend that it is as small and as powerful as possible. Except on the highway, all the roads on the island are very narrow and steep.
  From the host, we got as many avocados as we could eat😊.

  Lovely place, lost in the hills between La Orotova and El Teide.
  The sleeping room is spacious and bright. The kitchen/dining room is on the other side, the two are not directly connected. There is a terrasse between the two rooms, accessible from the kitchen.
  There are many places to sit outside, deckchairs and a hammock between the trees.
  We received oranges and avocados from the neighbour on our arrival. We got to make fresh juice every morning 🙂
  
  What could be improved: Nothing to do with the property in itself, just that there are 5 dogs next door and they barked days and nights..
  Just for general information, the property is down a really steep street with a sharp corner at the end.

  Le jardin est le gros point fort de cet établissement, en particulier en hiver pour les nombreux agrumes et avocatiers. Nous avons découvert deux nouveaux fruits les chérimoles et les prunes de Natal, excellents !
  L'accès à Internet via une fibre optique est parfait (possibilité de connexion filaire en plus du sans fil).
  L'agencement des grandes pièces à vivre est original et très agréable. Une terrasse entre les deux pièces offre une très belle vue sur le Teide et la vallée et permet des observations astronomiques de bonne qualité par un environnement sans éclairage direct.
  
  What could be improved: Le cadenas du portail un peu difficile à manipuler.

  What could be improved: Le seul inconvénient est d’être obligé de sortir de la chambre pour rejoindre le salon et la cuisine. Mais peu gênant finalement.

• Tolle Unterkunft für ruhige und entspannte Tage im Garten zwischen Orangen- und Avocadobäumen – Vera from Germany – 13 March 2024 (9/10)

  Toller Garten mit Obstbäumen, jeden Morgen haben wir uns Orangensaft frisch gepresst. Wunderschöne Aussicht und absolut ruhig. Die Zimmer sind gemütlich, sauber und super ausgestattet. Sehr netter Kontakt!
  
  What could be improved: Etwas abenteuerliche Anfahrt, wir sind im Dunkeln angekommen und wussten erst nicht recht, wie wir in der engen, steilen Straße parken sollen. Zum Glück gibts einen Parkplatz direkt vor dem Haus.
  Die beiden Räume sind nicht über die Terrasse miteinander verbunden, sondern haben separate Eingänge. Bei Regen oder kalten Abenden ist das hin und her gehen etwas unangenehm, vor allem mit Kindern.

  Velice originální ubytování v malém domečku s dřevěným rustikálním interiérem. Kuchyň s obývacím pokojem je dostupná v druhé části domečku, není průchozí z ložnice, chodí se tam z venku, nečiní to žádný problém. Zahrada je nádherná, s úchvatným výhledem na La Orotava a celé pobřeží, výhled i na Teide. Parkování u domu, komplikovanější příjezd pro zdatnější řidiče 🙂 Užili jsme si to, děkujeme ❤️
