The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – it’s this low-key coastal spot that feels way more intimate than those big resort complexes you see plastered all over Tenerife’s tourism brochures. I mean, when you pull up to Avenida Principal del Pris (and honestly, good luck finding it without GPS because Tacoronte’s street signs are… well, let’s just say they’re not exactly tourist-friendly), you might wonder if you’ve made a mistake. The building doesn’t scream “look at me” from the street, but that’s actually part of its charm.

The thing is, most people rush straight to the southern beaches and completely skip this northern stretch of coast, which is honestly their loss. El Pris isn’t your typical golden sand situation – it’s got these incredible natural pools carved right into the volcanic rock, and they’re literally a five-minute walk from the hotel. The locals treat it like their personal swimming spot, especially during those brutal summer afternoons when the rest of the island feels like an oven. I watched kids jumping off the rocks while their grandparents sat in the shade with proper picnic setups, complete with homemade bocadillos. That’s the real Tenerife right there, not the tourist version.

What really won me over was how the staff actually knew the area – like, really knew it. When I asked about dinner options, they didn’t just hand me a generic list of restaurants. Instead, this one guy (I think he was the manager’s son or something) spent ten minutes explaining which guachinche was doing the best rabbit stew that week, and how to get there without ending up lost in the banana plantations. The rooms themselves are pretty straightforward – clean, comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works. The shower pressure’s actually decent, which you can’t always count on in smaller Spanish hotels, and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you’ve been folded in half. There’s this persistent sound of waves that drifts up from the coast, especially at night when the traffic dies down on the main road.

I’ll be honest though – if you’re looking for a pool bar and organized activities, this isn’t your place. Casa Costera is more for people who want to base themselves somewhere authentic while they explore the less touristy parts of the island. The whole Anaga region is right there, with those incredible hiking trails through the laurel forests, and you’re close enough to Santa Cruz that you can actually experience some proper Canarian city life. Plus, parking here is free and easy, which is basically a miracle anywhere near the coast. For a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight – that 8.7 rating isn’t just inflated booking site nonsense, it’s earned.

  Beautiful place to admire and hear the sea at night, terrace with sunbeds was ideal, nice little kitcken with everyting you need and a nice view. I think the best place place to stay in El Pris.
