You know what really caught me off guard about Candelaria Vistas al Mar? The view from apartment 702 in the Batayola building actually delivers on that “sea views” promise – and I mean, really delivers. I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim ocean vistas and you end up squinting between buildings to catch a sliver of blue, but this one sits right on Calle Mesaola where you get this gorgeous stretch of coastline that honestly makes you want to just camp out on the balcony with your morning coffee.

The thing about Candelaria is that it’s this perfect middle ground between touristy and authentic – you’re literally two minutes from the Basilica (you can hear the bells, which is charming during the day, less so at 6 AM on Sunday), but you’re also in a proper residential neighborhood where locals actually live. The building itself is pretty typical for the area, nothing fancy but solid, and the apartment has that lived-in feel that’s way more comfortable than those sterile hotel rooms. Plus, parking isn’t the nightmare it is in some of the coastal towns – there’s actually space on the street most of the time, though weekends get a bit trickier when everyone’s visiting the basilica.

What really sold me on the place was how the owner clearly knows the area. They left this little notebook with actual useful info – like how the best café is down on Avenida Marítima (not the touristy one everyone goes to), and that the local market on Thursdays is where you want to grab fresh fish if you’re planning to cook. The apartment itself is comfortable enough for a 3-star setup, though honestly the location bumps it up a notch. The kitchen’s got everything you need if you want to make dinner while watching the sunset, and the Wi-Fi actually works, which – let’s be real – isn’t always a given in these older buildings. The only minor thing is that the water pressure’s a bit weak, but that’s pretty standard for this part of Tenerife. I mean, you’re getting an 8.6 rating for a reason – it’s the kind of place that just works without any drama, plus you wake up to waves instead of traffic noise.

  Great localization, we were lucky to make a reservation in Candelaria, It’s the nicest city in Tenerife.
  View outside the window was astonishing, kitchenette is very well equipped, bathroom was clean.
  I would recommend this apartament to everyone!
  Wi-Fi was amazingly fast, 500/500Mbps is not a problem.
  
  What could be improved: Key receival process should be more clear, informations we received were sometimes not precise or misleading.
  Beds are little bit too hard, but it can be a personal preference.

  What could be improved: Low water pressure at night (a general issue in the area which is already being fixed). It would be a nice gesture to offer coffee during the stay. It is not very convenient having to buy a full pack of coffee for just a few days.

  The view is amazing – feels like the whole city is on your hand. The amenities are great too. Location is quiet and convenient. Responsive host, clear instructions.
  
  What could be improved: Mattresses were too firm and pillows too thick for me, very hard to fall asleep quickly. The swimming pool is completely closed for now, would be great to have a heads-up as the first (main) picture of the apartment literally shows a pool.
