Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Canary Lofts Palace? The name makes it sound way fancier than it actually is – and I mean that in the best possible way. This is a solid 3-star spot that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, tucked away on Calle Doctor Jose Naveiras in what’s honestly one of the more authentic parts of Santa Cruz. The building itself has this slightly industrial-chic vibe that works really well, especially if you’re tired of cookie-cutter hotel rooms. The lofts (and they really do feel like lofts) have these high ceilings that make even the smaller units feel spacious, plus decent kitchenettes if you want to grab groceries from the Mercadona down the street instead of eating out every meal.

What I really appreciated was the location – it’s in a proper residential neighborhood where you’ll hear actual Spanish being spoken on the street corners, not just tourist chatter. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the main shopping areas around Plaza de España, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at all hours. The locals seem to congregate at this little bar called El Rincón just around the corner, and the morning coffee there is honestly better than what you’ll get at most hotel lobbies. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to Santa Cruz), but there’s usually street parking if you’re patient, and the hotel staff actually knows which nearby lots won’t tow you – small detail, but it matters when you’re hauling luggage around.

The 8.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there. It’s not luxury, but everything works properly and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places I’ve dealt with. The cleaning staff clearly takes pride in their work, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no complicated key card systems that never work on the first try. I’d say it’s perfect for people who want a genuine feel for how Santa Cruz actually lives and breathes, rather than the sanitized tourist version. Plus, if you’re planning to explore the rest of Tenerife, you’re well-positioned here without paying the premium you’d shell out for beachfront properties that you’ll barely use anyway.

  Great location, nice bathroom and comfortable beds. Coffee machine was a bonus.
