Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Canary Lofts on Manuel Verdugo street, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s tucked into this quiet residential block that most tourists probably walk right past, but that’s actually part of what makes it work so well. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the main shopping drag around Calle del Castillo, but you don’t get any of that street noise at night. The building itself has this converted industrial vibe – hence the “lofts” name – and they’ve done a pretty decent job keeping some of the original character while making it feel properly hotel-like.

The rooms are where this place really surprised me. They’re genuinely spacious, which is saying something for Santa Cruz where most hotels pack you in like sardines. High ceilings, decent-sized windows, and – this is key – actually functional air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a jet engine. I mean, you’re going to want that working properly if you’re here in summer. The design is sort of modern-minimalist without being cold, if that makes sense. They’ve got these concrete floors that stay cool during the day, which honestly feels great after you’ve been walking around the city in 30-degree heat. What I really appreciated was the kitchenette setup – not fancy, but enough to make coffee in the morning or store some groceries from the Mercadona down the street.

Here’s what you should know about the location: it’s perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying in an actual neighborhood rather than tourist central. There’s this little café called Bar Olimpia about two blocks down where locals grab their morning cortados – way better than hotel coffee, and the owner Miguel will chat your ear off about Tenerife football if you let him. The port area is maybe a ten-minute walk, and you can catch the tram to pretty much anywhere on the island from there. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street, but there’s a public garage about three blocks away that’s not too expensive. One thing though – if you’re the type who needs to be right in the thick of things, this might feel a bit too residential. It’s quiet, maybe too quiet for some people, especially on weeknights. Check-in was smooth enough, though the front desk isn’t staffed 24/7, so definitely coordinate if you’re arriving late. Overall, it’s one of those places that just works – nothing flashy, but you’ll sleep well and wake up feeling like you discovered something the guidebooks missed.

  The apartment is new and clean. The beds are so comfortable. It would be a perfect stay if the basic ingredients were provided.

  The room was very clean! Comfortable and spacious! Plus we had a baby bed for free.
  
  What could be improved: There wasn't soap in the bathroom and generally,, the room's amenities were a little poor. Also we didn't like that it wasn't a service for changing the towels.

  The property was clean, modern, easily accessible (elevator, and parking places in the streets around). Well located close to a tram and bus stop. Beautiful rooftop.

  Very spacious clean room. Room and kitchen area equipped with all the essentials. Lovely terrace area. Easy check-in and check-out. Good location for my needs.
  
  What could be improved: Only small minus was that my stay coincided with the return of schools. The room was very close to a local school and it was quite loud in the morning. Sleeping with closed windows helped.

  The property is a little out of town making it quieter and cheaper than town. But it is near a tram stop and the trams are cheap, frequent and easy to use. The roof terrace is great. The studios are well designed and we had all that we needed.
  
  What could be improved: We struggled a bit with the key code. it was our fault as we did not first press the picture of the key! But we had to be rescued by another resident in the evening.
