You know what caught me off guard about Caletillas Waves & Pool? The name actually makes sense when you’re standing there – you can literally hear the Atlantic rolling in just across the Maritima road, and honestly, that pool area becomes your best friend after a day exploring the black sand beaches around Candelaria. It’s one of those 3-star places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which I actually appreciated more than I expected.

The location on Maritima 135 puts you right in the thick of things without the tourist chaos you’d find closer to Santa Cruz. I mean, you’re about a 10-minute walk from the Basilica of Candelaria (those Guanche statues are worth seeing, trust me), and the local bus connections are surprisingly decent if you want to venture toward Puerto de la Cruz or back into the capital. What I loved was how the hotel sits in this sweet spot where you get that coastal vibe but you’re not paying resort prices. The rooms are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but the air conditioning actually works, which matters more than you’d think in August. Some of the sea-view rooms on the higher floors give you this great perspective of the coastline, especially at sunset when the light hits those volcanic cliffs.

The pool area becomes the social hub, especially in the afternoons when families with kids are splashing around and the older Spanish guests are playing cards in the shade. There’s something genuinely relaxing about it – maybe it’s the way the palm trees filter the light, or how you can still catch that ocean breeze even when you’re lounging poolside. The breakfast situation is pretty standard continental fare, but they do decent local tomatoes and that soft cheese that Canary Islanders are obsessed with. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free (which anyone who’s driven around Tenerife’s coastal towns will appreciate), and the staff seemed to actually live in the area rather than being imported seasonal workers – they had real recommendations for local restaurants, not just the tourist traps. The 7.3 rating feels about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it hits all the basics solidly. If you’re looking for Instagram-perfect luxury, keep scrolling. But if you want a genuine base to explore this part of Tenerife without breaking the bank, and you appreciate being around actual Spanish families on vacation rather than just other tourists, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

  Me gustó mucho las instalaciones. Son modernas y había menaje de todo tipo. Pero sobre todo la terraza y su ubicación. El apartamento era espacioso y muy limpio. Era tranquilo y disfrute de la piscina.

  El alojamiento está literalmente a pocos pasos del paseo marítimo por lo que se escucha el sonido de las olas del mar, muy relajante. Impresionante vista parcial del océano desde la terraza. Apartamento acogedor, bien limpio y decorado con gusto. Residencial El Carmen es muy tranquilo y bien mantenido. Todo a mano, comercios, supermercados, centro comercial y gran variedad de bares, cafeterías, heladerías, pastelerías y restaurantes. La agencia, Top Kanaren, muy atentos en todo momento para cualquier duda o consulta. Gracias por todo.

  Alojamiento muy acogedor, amplio, limpio y decorado con gusto. La conexión an Internet es estable y rápida por lo que pude teletrabajar. Me gustó tanto que extendí mi estancia 4 noches más. La agencia, Top Kanaren, envió al servicio de limpieza e incluso me cambiaron la ropa de cama sin gasto adicional. En todo momento estuvieron muy atentos para cualquier duda o pregunta que tuviera. La ubicación es magnífica con diversidad de bares, restaurantes, pastelerías, supermercados, comercios, etc que se encuentran a su alrededor sin necesidad de coche para desplazarse. El apartamento está a dos minutos a pie de la playa.
