Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Buenavista Oasis on Camino el Rincón, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But sometimes you stumble onto something that just gets everything right, you know? This little gem sits in one of those spots where you can actually feel the stress leaving your shoulders as soon as you step out of the car. The drive up from Santa Cruz takes about an hour and a half, winding through those dramatic Tenerife landscapes, and by the time you reach Buenavista del Norte, you’re already in a different headspace entirely.

What really struck me about this place – and I mean this genuinely – is how they’ve managed to create this perfect balance between being tucked away from the tourist madness but still having everything you actually need within reach. The hotel itself has this understated charm that you don’t always find in the Canary Islands, where so many places try too hard to be flashy. Here, it’s more about the details that actually matter. The rooms are clean and comfortable (honestly, the beds are better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed), and there’s this lovely terrace area where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the light change over the mountains. Parking is easy, which anyone who’s driven around Tenerife will tell you is not something to take for granted.

But here’s the thing that really won me over – the location puts you right in the heart of authentic Canarian life without feeling like you’re missing out on anything. Buenavista del Norte isn’t one of those sleepy villages where you’re stuck; there are actually some fantastic local restaurants within walking distance, and the coastal paths are incredible if you’re into hiking. Plus, you’re close enough to the Teno Rural Park that you can explore those dramatic cliffs and laurel forests without having to plan some major expedition. The staff clearly know the area well and gave me some spot-on recommendations for places I never would have found otherwise. I mean, there’s something to be said for staying somewhere that locals actually respect rather than just tolerate, and this place has that feeling. It’s not trying to be something it’s not – just a solid, welcoming spot that happens to be perfectly positioned for exploring one of Tenerife’s most beautiful and least commercialized corners.

  La casita no puede ser más ideal. Se respira paz y tranquilidad…pasamos unos días inolvidables. Lo mejor, no hay vecinos!!! Estás a tu aire, sin ruidos, cobertura y wifi a tope para teletrabajar si es necesario y el pueblo está a 2 minutos en coche.
  Es la casita más bonita en la que he estado nunca, sin duda repetiremos el año que viene, el único miedo que tengo es que no esté libre cuando vayamos!!!
  Sin duda tuvimos mucha suerte de haberla encontrado.
