Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Puerto de la Cruz, and honestly, Summa Haus caught me completely off guard. When you’re walking down Calle San Juan – which, by the way, is this narrow little street that most tourists never find – you’d never guess what’s waiting behind that unassuming door. It’s one of those buildings where the magic happens once you’re inside, you know? The apartment sits on the fourth floor (there’s an elevator, thank god), and the moment you step in, it’s like someone actually thought about how people live, not just how to cram beds into a space.

The thing that really got me was the attention to detail – I mean, whoever designed this place clearly understands what travelers actually need. The kitchen isn’t just for show; it’s got proper counter space and decent cookware, which is rare in these boutique setups. The living area has this really nice flow to it, and the windows… well, let’s just say the light in the morning is something else. You’re right in the heart of the old town here, so you get all those authentic Puerto de la Cruz sounds – church bells, people chatting in the streets below, the occasional delivery truck rumbling over cobblestones. Some might find it busy, but I actually loved feeling connected to the rhythm of the neighborhood.

What really sets this place apart is the location knowledge the owners clearly have. They’ve positioned you perfectly – you’re a two-minute walk from Plaza del Charco (where all the evening action happens), but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos when you want to relax. The Lago Martiánez is literally around the corner, and if you’re into the local scene, there’s this little tapas place called El Rincón that locals go to – it’s maybe fifty meters away and completely invisible unless you know to look for it. The apartment comes with these little touches that show someone who actually lives here set it up, not some management company. Fresh towels that actually smell good, proper shower pressure (seriously underrated), and they’ve got the WiFi situation figured out, which… let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in these older buildings.

The only thing I’d mention is that it’s a fourth-floor walk-up situation if the elevator’s being serviced, but that happened exactly once during my stay. Also, if you’re the type who needs complete silence to sleep, just know you’re in a living, breathing neighborhood – though I found the sounds more charming than disruptive after the first night. What really impressed me was how the whole experience felt curated without being pretentious. It’s like staying in someone’s really well-appointed home rather than a sterile hotel room, and in a place like Puerto de la Cruz where authenticity matters, that makes all the difference.
