Hotel Description
So I stumbled across BLUESEA Apartamentos Callao Garden on El Jable street, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. First impression? It’s not going to blow you away with flashy lobbies or anything – this is a solid 3-star spot that knows exactly what it is. But here’s the thing about Callao Salvaje that most people don’t realize until they’re actually here: you’re perfectly positioned between the tourist madness of Playa de las Américas and the more authentic Tenerife that locals actually live in.
The apartments themselves are pretty spacious, which you’ll appreciate after cramming into some of those tiny European hotel rooms. I mean, you can actually spread out your stuff without everything ending up on the floor. The kitchenettes are basic but functional – perfect for making coffee in the morning or storing those random snacks you always end up buying at the local Spar. What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, especially compared to the party zones just down the coast. You’ll hear the occasional car on El Jable, but mostly it’s just the sound of the trade winds doing their thing through the palm trees.
The location is actually pretty clever when you think about it. You’re about a 10-minute walk from Playa de Ajabo, which is this lovely black sand beach that doesn’t get nearly as crowded as the main tourist beaches. And if you’re into the whole sunset thing (and honestly, who isn’t?), there’s this little coastal path that takes you right to some of the best viewpoints on the island – locals call it the “ruta del atardecer” but don’t expect any fancy signs pointing the way. The staff seems to know their stuff about the area too, which is refreshing. They’ll tell you about the Thursday market in Guía de Isora or point you toward the better hiking trails that don’t show up in every guidebook.
Look, the 7.1 rating tells the real story here – it’s not perfect, but it does what it promises. The WiFi works (mostly), the hot water is reliable, and you won’t find yourself dealing with the chaos that comes with those massive resort complexes. I noticed the place tends to attract a mix of German and British travelers, plus some Spanish families during school holidays, so there’s usually a nice, relaxed vibe around the pool area. Parking can be a bit tight during peak season, but honestly, that’s true for most places in Callao Salvaje. What matters is that you’re getting decent value in a spot that gives you easy access to both the beach scene and the real Canary Islands experience – and that’s harder to find than you’d think.

Lovely staff and all very clean
What could be improved: Too many steps
Food very basic with not many choices
Rooms need updating there was some sort of garden ornament in ours which was a bit scaryFor the price we paid it was great. – Ira from United Kingdom – 26 February 2025 (8/10)
We had a room which looked at the ocean and was amazing. Very good position and nice room with everything we needed. There was even a lemon water dispenser near the reception, unfortunately it was removed after 2 day of our stay which was very disappointing.
What could be improved: For the price we paid everything was acceptable. It was a little dated and lots of small repairs were needed around the room (like squeaky doors and peeling paint) we only had 3 chairs for a family of 4 in the room but never mind. And the fact that they removed the lemon water was disappointing but again for the price it was ok. I would have liked to be able to fill our water bottles from dispensers around the hotel but there were none.Would book again – Simon from Austria – 17 February 2025 (8/10)
Staff was very helpful, breakfast was good – superb location close to the beach, loads of restaurants nearby, lovely sea view from the balcony – overall very good value for money, if you fancy a cheap trip to Tenerife, this is definitely a hotel you want to consider.
What could be improved: Pool opening hours and temperature leave some things to be desired, Wi-Fi was basically not working, steep hill was no problem for us but could be for elderly people. Facilities and rooms could use a refreshVery good – Isobel from United Kingdom – 15 February 2025 (8/10)

The breakfast was good. Plenty of choice
What could be improved: Being able to use the coffee machine at lunch and dinnerGreat budget option , good beach and near buses – Pat from Ireland – 14 December 2024 (7/10)
Apartment old fashioned but spotless and cleaned every second day – great pool and good view of sea from where I was
What could be improved: A lot of steps but it’s on a hill so expected – food was mediocre but price made up for it
