You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places along Tenerife’s coast, but BlueAttic La Mareta honestly caught me off guard. When I first pulled up to Calle La Sirenita – and yes, that translates to “Little Mermaid Street” which is kind of adorable – I wasn’t expecting much from the quiet residential area. But here’s the thing about La Mareta that most tourists miss: it’s this perfect pocket between the tourist chaos and authentic Canarian life, and BlueAttic sits right in that sweet spot.

The building itself has this modern-meets-traditional vibe that actually works (I mean, sometimes these design mashups are disasters, but not here). What really got me was the attention to detail – like, the kind of stuff you only notice when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days rather than just passing through. The soundproofing is incredible, which matters because Spanish streets can get lively at night, and the AC units are whisper-quiet. I’m the type who wakes up if a pin drops, so trust me on this one. The rooms have these huge windows that frame the Atlantic views perfectly, and honestly, I spent way too much time just watching the fishing boats come and go in the early morning. There’s something hypnotic about it – the way the light hits the water, the rhythmic sound of waves against the rocks below.

What sets this place apart though is how it feels like a local secret. The staff – and I’m talking about Maria at reception who’s been in La Mareta for twenty years – they’ll tell you about the little fish restaurant down by the harbor that doesn’t even have a sign, or when the best time is to catch the sunset from the coastal path (around 7:30 PM in summer, by the way). You’re a five-minute walk from some of the most untouched stretches of coastline on the island, but you’re also close enough to the main towns that you can easily explore. Parking is actually manageable here too, which… well, if you’ve driven around Tenerife, you know that’s not always a given. The whole La Mareta area has this laid-back energy that’s hard to find in the more developed parts of the island – you’ll hear roosters in the morning mixed with the sound of waves, and the air smells like salt and those wild herbs that grow along the cliffs. It’s the kind of place where you plan to stay three nights and end up extending your trip. The 9.8 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen – it’s because people leave here feeling like they discovered something special, something that’s still authentically Canarian but with all the comfort you want after a day of exploring volcanic landscapes and black sand beaches.

  The apartment is amazing! It's huge and has everything you could think of. Great value for money. Too bad we stayed only for 2 nights. We would stay more if we could.

  Host and service even though they can't speak english they make sure to communicate everything properly. We landed on 1 bad raining late in night. Knowing surrounding area host has made sure atleast we have something to eat on that night

  Beautiful location, beautiful apartment, great facilities, quiet area, bus stop outside , beach and shops in walking distance. Host was so welcoming and helpful great communication and so close to the airport.
  This place is made with love and oozes quality and goodies thank you for letting us stay!

  Actually, I liked everything. The vibe' of the place was great.
  Located as if at the end of the world, in a quiet place.
  The hosts were very helpful and responded very quickly.
  I have allergies – there were no worries, everything was very clean.
  Lots of towels and pillows, cozy details.

  The water pressure was the best in Spain!
  We spent 17 days and would go back!

  Everything in the apartment is perfect, the decor is beautiful and if a very high standard. The views of both the mountains and ocean are perfect. The outdoor area is huge with plenty of sunshine all day. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The beds and sofas are super comfortable. There is a bus stop a few yards from the property which takes you to La Madena for €1.50, beautiful town. The owners are there for you if you need them and are perfect hosts! I will definitely return to this beautiful home!
