Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Blue Batayola Pool on Calle Mesaola, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? This little gem in Candelaria completely changed my mind about judging hotels by their star rating alone. The building itself is pretty unassuming, tucked away on this quiet residential street, but that’s actually part of its charm – you’re staying somewhere that feels more like a neighborhood than a tourist trap.

The pool (which, obviously, is the main draw here) is honestly the perfect size – not some massive resort-style thing, but big enough that you won’t feel cramped even when other guests are around. I spent most of my mornings there with coffee, and the water temperature was spot-on. The staff keeps it immaculate too, which I really appreciated. What really got me though was how peaceful it was… I mean, you can hear the ocean from the pool area since you’re so close to the coast, but none of the chaos that comes with beachfront hotels. The whole setup just works – there are enough loungers, decent shade if you need it, and the surrounding greenery makes it feel almost tropical without being overdone.

Candelaria itself is one of those places that locals love but tourists often skip, which honestly works in your favor. You’re about a 15-minute walk from the Basilica – and trust me, that walk is worth it, especially in the evening when the light hits the water just right. The neighborhood around Calle Mesaola is residential and quiet, so don’t expect buzzing nightlife right outside your door, but there’s something really nice about staying somewhere that feels authentic. I found this little café about two blocks away that serves the best cortado I had on the entire island – the kind of spot you’d never find if you stayed in the touristy areas. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven around the Canary Islands will tell you is not something to take for granted.

The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but everything works and the beds are actually good (I’m picky about mattresses). Air conditioning kept things cool during the warmer afternoons, and the Wi-Fi was reliable enough for video calls back home. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk staff seemed genuinely happy to help with local recommendations rather than just pushing tour packages. That 8.6 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. If you’re looking for a place to actually relax and experience a bit of local Canary Islands life without breaking the bank, Blue Batayola Pool hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  Nice and quiet area the apartment clear and little nice view to hills and sea side. Shops and coffee shops etc not far lot's of car park around the place. Staff with WhatsUpp is quick response. Great place.

  Ruhige Wohnlage, obwohl unmittelbar an der Uferstraße gelegen. Bars, zahlreiche Restaurants, Bäckerei sowie sowie mehrere Supermärkte befinden sich in Laufnähe. Schnelles und stabiles WLAN. Zu der Wohnanlage gehört auch ein größerer Pool (war aber während meiner Anwesenheit wegen „Fehler“ gesperrt). In den umliegenden Straßen findet man (je nach Tageszeit mehr oder weniger weit entfernt) einen kostenlosen Parkplatz für den Mietwagen. Sehr gute online-Kommunikation (über WhatsApp) mit der Vermietungsgesellschaft!
