So I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this place on Calle Alcalde Pedro Acevedo Bisshopp (yeah, that’s a mouthful), I wasn’t sure what to expect. The street itself is pretty quiet, tucked away from the main tourist drag in Puerto de Santiago, but that actually turned out to be perfect. You know what I mean? Sometimes you want to be close to everything but not right in the middle of the chaos.
The Black Beach Luxury Vacation House is one of those properties that surprises you once you’re inside. From the street it looks nice enough, but step through the door and you realize someone put serious thought into this place. The layout feels more like a friend’s really well-designed home than a typical rental – there’s this flow to the rooms that makes sense, and honestly, the kitchen is better equipped than mine at home. I mean, they’ve got proper knives and everything, not those sad dull things you usually find in vacation rentals. The living spaces have these big windows that let in all that gorgeous Canarian light, and on clear days you can actually see across to La Gomera floating on the horizon.
What really sold me on this spot though was the location. Puerto de Santiago isn’t one of those overdeveloped resort towns – it’s got character, you know? Walk five minutes down toward the coast and you’ll hit Playa de la Arena, which is honestly one of the better beaches on this part of Tenerife. The sand is that dramatic black volcanic stuff that photographs beautifully but gets scorching hot by midday (trust me, bring flip-flops). There’s also this little strip of restaurants along the waterfront where locals actually eat, not just tourists. The fish is incredible – I ended up going back to this one place three times because their grilled dorada was just… well, let’s just say I’m still thinking about it months later.
The house itself sleeps comfortably without feeling cramped, and there’s decent parking right outside, which is more valuable than you might think in this area. Check-in was smooth – none of that awkward fumbling around with lockboxes or confusing instructions. The Wi-Fi actually works properly too, which matters if you’re trying to upload all those sunset photos to make your friends jealous. I will say the hot water takes a minute to get going in the mornings, but that’s pretty standard for this part of the island.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’re far enough from the main coastal road that you don’t get that constant hum of traffic, but close enough that you can walk to dinner without needing a car. During the day, you’ve got easy access to some of the best hiking on the island – the trails up toward Masca are absolutely worth the drive, and Los Gigantes cliffs are right there when you want to feel very small next to something very big. This place works whether you’re planning to explore or just want to park yourself somewhere beautiful and read a book by the pool. That 9.2 rating? Yeah, it’s earned.
