The entrance isn’t exactly screaming “hotel” at you, but that’s actually part of its charm. Once you’re inside though, you quickly realize this little gem punches way above its three-star rating (seriously, that 9.7 rating isn’t just lucky reviews).

The location is what really got me excited – you’re literally a five-minute stroll from Plaza del Charco, which honestly is where all the action happens in Puerto de la Cruz. I mean, you can hear the buzz from the plaza’s restaurants and bars, but it’s not so close that you’re dealing with noise all night. The street itself is pretty typical for this part of town, lined with those beautiful Canarian buildings that have character oozing from every balcony. What I loved is that you’re close enough to duck into Mercadona for snacks (trust me, you’ll want those local tomatoes), but far enough from the main tourist drag that you actually feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might recommend.

The rooms themselves surprised me – they’ve clearly put thought into the details without going overboard. The beds are actually comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss that can be in smaller hotels), and there’s this subtle attention to cleanliness that you notice immediately. The bathrooms are compact but functional, with decent water pressure – something I’ve learned never to take for granted in older buildings. What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, despite being right in the heart of everything. I think it’s because you’re on the second floor, sort of floating above the street level chaos. The staff genuinely seem to care about your experience too, which sounds cheesy but makes a real difference when you need restaurant recommendations or directions to the less obvious beaches.

Here’s the thing about Puerto de la Cruz – it’s not Playa de las Américas with its resort complexes and predictable tourist infrastructure. It’s got this authentic Canarian vibe that can feel a bit overwhelming if you’re not staying somewhere that gets it. Bencomo Subset feels like it was designed by people who actually understand what travelers want when they choose this town over the flashier options down south. You’re close enough to walk to Playa Jardín for your morning coffee (get the cortado, not the regular coffee), and when you want to explore the old town’s winding streets or check out the weekend markets, you’re not starting from some sterile hotel zone miles away. It’s the kind of place where you end up chatting with other guests about hidden tapas spots, rather than comparing resort amenities.

  I did not expect the property to be so cool. It really exceeded my expectation.
  It is clean, has all necessities and is pretty big.
  
  It is located few steps from the ocean and Loro Parque (hence parking spaces are mostly full, so keep calm and drive around. There was always something available nearby).
  
  Keys were inside the apartment and the host opened doors for us remotely once we arrived at the doors. Everything without any waiting. Every step was well described even photos were included.
  
  We got also some references on how to get to nearby shops, restaurants, etc.

  El apartamento es perfecto y muy grande. Bien ubicado, aparcamiento sin problema en la misma puerta. Tiene todo lo necesario para una estancia tanto de muchos días como de pocos. Muy bien equipado.

  Nos gustó mucho la ubicación del alojamiento, muy cerca de la Orotava y de cualquier sitio al que queríamos ir. La limpieza al llegar estupenda, un apartamento perfecto para 5 personas, muy cómodo.
