You know what struck me first about this place? The fact that it’s tucked away on Carretera de las Gaviotas – honestly, I’d driven past that stretch a dozen times without noticing the building. But that’s actually part of its charm, I guess. It’s not screaming “tourist trap” like some of the flashier spots closer to the main drag.

The apartment itself is pretty sleek – they weren’t kidding about the modernist design thing. Clean lines, lots of white and glass, that whole minimalist vibe that either works for you or doesn’t. For me, it worked. The furniture actually looks like someone put thought into it rather than just ordering whatever was cheapest from a hotel supply catalog. I mean, you’re not going to find any of those weird abstract paintings that every generic hotel seems to have – this feels more like staying in someone’s actual home, if that someone happened to have really good taste and a decent budget.

What really sold me on the place was the beach access situation. Look, Santa Cruz isn’t exactly known for its beaches – most people head south to Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas for that. But being right here means you’re maybe a five-minute walk to some surprisingly decent sand, and more importantly, you’re not dealing with the absolute chaos that is the southern resort areas during peak season. The location gives you this weird sweet spot where you can actually get to the beach without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble. Plus, parking – and this is crucial if you’re renting a car – isn’t a complete nightmare like it is in the city center.

The apartment itself sleeps four comfortably, though I’d say it’s really designed for couples or maybe a small family. The kitchen is actually functional (I cooked breakfast a few times), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that doesn’t make you feel like you’re being attacked by a garden hose. Air conditioning works well, which you’ll definitely need if you’re visiting between June and September. The Wi-Fi is solid too – I had to do some work calls and didn’t have any issues.

If I’m being completely honest, the building itself isn’t going to win any architectural awards, and the lobby area is pretty basic. But honestly, who cares? You’re not here to hang out in the lobby. The apartment delivers on what matters – it’s clean, comfortable, and the design actually feels intentional rather than thrown together. The 8.5 rating makes sense to me; it’s not perfect, but it gets the important stuff right without any major disappointments. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to explore more of the northern part of the island without dealing with the resort scene down south.

  The view of the beach and sea is lovely and the car parking very easy. The apartment provides almost everything you could need. A nice touch was water and apple juice provided, and beach towels. Picking up the key from the office went smoothly and instructions were clear. Balcony gets the sun most of the day. Though other flats are occupied it’s quiet between 10 pm and 8 am. The apartment itself is striking in its modern design.

  The location is great being just 15 mins drive from the city Santa Cruz and just next to a great beach that is almost empty most of the time. We enjoyed that but for those not ready to drive each time you want to get something including grocery, there is no public transport at all from apartment to nearest supermarket for instance, not even Uber and beach is black sand beach in case (we didn’t mind). And the drive includes a winding road around the mountains which could be scary for some especially at night. View from apartment is beautiful although the seating on the balcony is facing the wrong way. Property is old but clean and peaceful.

  The apartment is beautiful. The hosts agreed to take the 300 EUR deposit in cash upon arrival (instead of reserving it on the credit card before the trip) and returned it during the check-out, but there was an issue. The host checked the bathroom towels, noticed a small make-up stain and wanted to charge my deposit for the replacement of the towel. I quickly washed it off with some soap and running water and was able to get my deposit back.
