Balcón de Los Gigantes Overview

First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Balcón de Los Gigantes, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the outside — it’s tucked away on a quiet residential street in Puerto de Santiago. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to show off. This four-star property sits perfectly positioned to take advantage of those famous Los Gigantes cliffs, and once you step inside, you immediately understand why couples keep coming back here. The staff greeted me like I was staying at a friend’s place, not some massive hotel chain.

The Location Magic

Here’s the thing about Puerto de Santiago — most tourists rush through on their way to the bigger resorts, but they’re missing out. This hotel sits right in the sweet spot where you can walk to the black sand beach in about five minutes, yet you’re far enough from the main tourist drag to actually relax. I mean, you can see those massive cliffs from almost everywhere in the hotel, and honestly, the view never gets old. There’s free parking right on site too, which is actually a big deal here since finding a spot near the coast can be a nightmare during peak season.

The Room Experience

My room was simple but thoughtfully designed — clean lines, comfortable bed, and that view I keep mentioning. The balcony became my morning coffee spot, and I spent way more time out there than I planned. What impressed me most was how quiet everything was, despite being so close to the main areas. The air conditioning worked perfectly (crucial in Tenerife summers), and the bathroom was modern without trying too hard to be fancy. You get the sense that they’ve figured out what actually matters to guests.

Dining and Amenities

The hotel restaurant surprised me — I was expecting typical tourist fare, but they actually serve decent local dishes alongside the international options. Breakfast had everything you’d want, and they don’t rush you out if you want to linger over coffee while watching the morning light hit those cliffs. The pool area is where this place really shines though. It’s not huge, but it’s perfectly positioned and never felt crowded, even when the hotel seemed pretty full.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t the flashiest hotel on the island, but that’s exactly why it works so well. Couples especially seem to get it — there’s something romantic about the whole setup without it being overly themed or trying too hard. The staff knows the area inside and out, so they’ll point you toward the best hiking trails or that little local place where the fish is actually fresh. After staying here, I totally understand why people rate this place so highly. It’s one of those rare spots that delivers exactly what it promises, no more, no less.
