Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Atlantico – it’s one of those places that just gets it right without trying too hard. When I first walked up to this spot on Avenida Hermanos Fernandez Perdin, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place, but honestly? Sometimes the unassuming ones surprise you the most.

The location is actually perfect if you know Puerto de la Cruz at all. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Playa Jardín (that black sand beach everyone talks about), but here’s the thing most people don’t realize – you’re also close enough to the old town that you can wander over to Plaza del Charco for dinner without needing a taxi. I mean, parking in Puerto can be an absolute nightmare, especially during the summer months when the Spanish families descend on the Canaries, but the Atlantico actually has its own parking. That alone is worth its weight in gold if you’ve rented a car to explore the island.

The pool area is where this place really shines, though. It’s not huge or fancy, but it’s got this relaxed vibe where you can actually hear yourself think – unlike some of the bigger resorts where kids are screaming and there’s constant animation music blaring. The AC works properly too, which you’ll appreciate more than you think. Puerto de la Cruz can get pretty humid, especially in those rooms facing inland, and there’s nothing worse than lying awake at 2 AM because your room feels like a sauna. The staff here seems to actually maintain their equipment, which is refreshing.

What I really love about this place is how it feels authentically Canarian without being touristy. You know what I mean? The breakfast includes local cheeses and those sweet little Canarian bananas that taste nothing like what you get at home. The front desk folks – well, they’re not winning any enthusiasm awards, but they’re helpful enough and they know the area. They’ll tell you which guagua (that’s the local bus) to take to get to the Teide cable car, or warn you that the Loro Parque crowds are brutal on weekends.

The rooms themselves are clean and functional – nothing Instagram-worthy, but honestly, who cares? You’ve got a comfortable bed, a decent shower, and if you’re lucky enough to snag a room with a partial ocean view, you can see the waves breaking on the volcanic rocks in the distance. The walls are a bit thin, so you might hear your neighbors chatting, but it’s not the kind of place that attracts party crowds anyway. Most guests seem to be either couples looking for a quiet getaway or families who want to be near the beach without paying resort prices.

Here’s the bottom line – if you’re looking for a place that’s genuinely well-located, reasonably priced, and run by people who seem to care about doing things right, the Atlantico delivers. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s going to give you exactly what you need for a proper Tenerife vacation. Plus, you’ll save enough money to splurge on those amazing papas arrugadas at the little restaurant around the corner on Calle Quintana.

  Die Wohnung ist sehr gut gelegen. In der Nähe des Busbahnhofs und daher leicht zu finden. 200 M zum Strand und der Strandpromenade. In die Innenstadt max. 15 Minuten zu Fuß. Alle notwendigen Geschäfte sind in unmittelbarer Nähe. Daneben befindet sich ein großer und gepflegter Swimmingpool nur für Anrainer. Die kleine Terrasse lädt zum gemütlichen Frühstücken und Entspannen ein. Das Apartment war sauber, gut ausgestattet, perfekt für 2 Personen. Ich kann es allen wärmstens empfehlen, die einen guten Ort in relativ zentraler Lage suchen, ohne bergauf laufen zu müssen. Gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.
