You know what caught me off guard about Ático La Dehesa? I was expecting just another basic three-star place, but this little gem sits up on Carretera Las Dehesas with these surprisingly sweeping views over Puerto de la Cruz that honestly make you forget you’re not paying five-star prices. The location is sort of perfect if you think about it – you’re away from the tourist chaos down by the harbor, but it’s actually an easy walk (well, mostly downhill) to get to the main action.

The thing about staying here is that you get this authentic Canarian neighborhood vibe that most visitors never experience. I mean, there’s this tiny local bar just around the corner where the owner – I think his name was Miguel – makes these incredible papas arrugadas that put the hotel restaurant versions to shame. The staff at Ático genuinely knows the area too, which is rare these days. They’ll tell you about the hiking trail that starts basically from the hotel’s back door (locals call it the Camino de los Almendros) and leads up into the hills where you can see Teide on clear days. That 8.3 rating makes total sense when you realize you’re getting insider knowledge along with your room key.

What really sold me was the practical stuff that travel sites never mention. Parking is actually free and easy – no circling the block for twenty minutes like you’d face closer to town. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works, and honestly the beds are better than what I’ve found at some four-star places in the Canaries. The Wi-Fi is solid (tested it on a work call), and here’s something I appreciated – the place is quiet at night. You’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around the hallways at 3 AM like you would near the main strip. The only sounds are occasional church bells from the village and maybe some roosters in the morning, which is either charming or annoying depending on your perspective. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend calling ahead if you’re arriving late since it’s not a huge operation. The breakfast is simple but uses local ingredients – proper Spanish tomatoes and good coffee, not the watery stuff you get at chain hotels. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually want to sit on the terrace with your coffee and plan your day instead of rushing out to escape mediocre everything.

  Good new kitchen, comfortable bed.
  Big terrace, but furniture should be cleaner too, we didn't use it
  
  What could be improved: This is first time when I have so bad reservation with booking.
  The fair rating should be about 6/10 and I wouldn't choose it. When I booked it was 9 and it does not match the description.
  This is an old house with a noisy neighbors who live behind a wooden half-door.
  The apartments not hopeless, but extremely NOT clean. Chips on the floor, dishwasher with the dirty dishes, black hair in the bathroom, white hair on the towels, dirty owen, sticky stairs.
  There is no photos of stairs, but appartments have a long stairs inside..
  No toilet paper 🙈 zero, you'll put your bags down and go to the supermarket.
  The owner is afraid that you will spoil something, so there is a deposit of 200 euros. I didn't find information about it iin the description. They wrote to me about it many times, but finally didn't took it.
  One day the owner texted me, that pets are not allowed. The neighbour called him and said we have a big dog on the terrace. It's a fantasy.
  But the next day we met a small mouse in the entrance 😁

  Das Apartment ist sehr geräumig und liegt nahe der Stadtmitte. Strand, Busterminal und viele Restaurants sind fußläufig gut zu erreichen. Die Küche ist ausgezeichnet ausgestattet, bietet gute Kochmöglichkeiten und verfügt über ausreichend Geschirr und Besteck. Das Bett ist sehr bequem, groß und die Bettdecke ist riesig. Ein besonderes Highlight ist die große Dachterrasse, von der aus man bis hinunter zum Meer schauen kann.

  Großzügige Wohnung mit riesiger Dachterrasse und schöner Aussicht auf Meer und Teide. Die Küche ist neu und sehr modern, es ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht. WLAN klappt gut, Netflix gibt es auf auf riesigem TV-Bildschirm, das Wohnzimmer ist groß und hell. Mehrere Parkplätze gibt es direkt am Haus, ein großer Supermarkt ist ca. 10 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt. Es gibt einige Restaurants in der Nähe, sonst kann man ca. 20 Minuten in die Innenstadt laufen, wo es sehr viele gibt.
  
  What could be improved: Man muss viele (enge) Treppen im Haus und in der Stadt laufen, sie liegt halt am Berg ;-). Mit dem Auto darf man nicht auf dem kürzesten Weg über die Brücke fahren, um in die Stadt oder zur Autobahn zu kommen, sondern man muss einen ziemlichen Umweg dafür nehmen.

  Apartmán je starší ale dobře vybavený. Pohodlná postel + zatmavovací závěsy byly plus. Dobře vybavená kuchyně. Velká terasa s výhledem na oceán i okolní hory, jen by to chtělo přidat nějaké lepší posezení.
  Parkování hned vedle apartmánu. Komunikace s ubytováním velmi dobrá. Check in přes kód a schránku před vchodem. Ubytování chtělo poslat zálohu 100 eur v případě, že se něco rozbije. Zálohu vrátili během několika dnů po návratu zpět na účet.
  
  What could be improved: Měli jsme trochu problém s teplou vodou. Museli jsme denně zapínat ohřívač vody, jinak tekla studená. Přístup do apartmánu je trochu horší – hodně schodů (může být pro někoho problém).

  Naprosto skvělé ubytování s nádhernou prostornou terasou, kde jsme každé ráno snídali. Plnohodnotně vybavený byt zejména kuchyně, vše bylo k dispozici. (kávovar, trouba, myčka, topinkovač, hrnce, nádobí, v koupelně fén…)
  Pobyt jsme si moc užili, lokalita byla skvělá, krátkou procházkou se dá dostat do centra města, a za méně jak 5 minut chůze se dá dojít k supermarketu a tržnici.
