You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment you step onto that terrace – and I mean the second you open those doors – Santa Cruz just spreads out below you like someone unrolled a map. I’ve stayed in plenty of city apartments, but this fifth-floor perch on Calle Porlier hits different. The building itself is one of those classic Canarian structures that somehow manages to keep things cool even when the island sun is doing its worst.
The location is honestly perfect if you actually want to experience Santa Cruz rather than just pass through it. You’re right in the thick of things but not drowning in tourist chaos – Porlier runs parallel to some of the main shopping streets, so you can walk to Plaza de España in maybe eight minutes (I timed it), but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not hearing street performers at midnight. The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental – there’s character in the tile work, and the kitchen is set up by someone who clearly cooks rather than just reheats takeout. I mean, there are proper spices in the cupboard and decent knives in the drawers.
What really sells this place, though, is how it connects you to the rhythm of the neighborhood. In the morning, you’ll hear the fruit vendors setting up in the nearby market – not annoying, just… authentic. The terrace becomes your private observatory for watching the city wake up, and honestly, sunset drinks up there beat any hotel rooftop bar I’ve tried on the island. The building can get a bit echo-y (Spanish families talk loudly, and that’s not a complaint, just reality), but it quiets down pretty reasonably. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – street spots are hit or miss, and the nearby garage fills up during festival season – but that’s Santa Cruz for you. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it delivers exactly what it promises with some genuine warmth thrown in. If you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Santa Cruz rather than just visiting it, this terrace apartment gets it right.

Large apartment, with 1 bathroom (great shower) and one 1/2 bathroom, with lots of natural light. The terrace was wonderful, with table/chairs and lounge chairs. It was better than the pictures. Very quiet at night. We did find free parking on the streets nearby. Close to grocery stores, 5 min walk to the historic center. Very clean and well kept. Easy to check-in and check-out.

Muy pulcro y ordenado, es un piso reformado a nuevo.
What could be improved: La atencion del host fue adecuada pero escueta. En el baño que tiene ducha, al drenar el retrete perdia agua continuamente por lo que tuvimos que cerrar la llave de paso y usar el otro baño durante toda la estancia. En el mismo baño mi pareja se quedó encerrada ya que el picaportes funciona mal, a lo que tuve que dejar el almuerzo con mis seres queridos para poder ir a socorrerla.
Los vecinos de abajo montaron fiestas dos dias seguidos, pese a que no esta permitido, el primero fue tolerable pero el segundo no, intente comunicarme con el host y no me respondia las llamadas. El primer dia de lluvias, se inundó el balcón, entrando el agua hasta la sala de estar, tuvimos que levantar el cesped sintético para encontrar el drenaje el cual estaba cerrado y tapado por mugre, al cual tuve que destapar con mis manos, y fregar todo el suelo.
