You know what? ARCOIRIS AL MAR is one of those places that surprised me – and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place on Paseo Las Americas. But man, that 9.1 rating actually makes sense once you’re there. The building (it’s called Edificio Tilis, apartment 404) sits right along the main drag in San Marcos, which means you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from everything that matters. I mean, you can hear the ocean from the balcony, and there’s something pretty magical about waking up to that sound instead of traffic noise.

The thing about this place is that it feels more like staying in someone’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel room. The owners clearly put thought into the details – the kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the Mercadona down the street, and the living area has this relaxed vibe that makes you want to just hang out with a beer and plan your next day. What I really appreciated was how clean everything was, and the Wi-Fi actually worked properly (you’d be surprised how many places mess that up). The building itself is pretty quiet too, which is nice because Paseo Las Americas can get a bit lively, especially during summer evenings when everyone’s heading to the bars.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned in San Marcos – it’s not the flashiest part of Tenerife, but that’s honestly part of its charm. You’ve got the black sand beaches right there, and if you’re into hiking, the trails up toward the hills are maybe a 10-minute drive away. Plus, you’re close enough to the bigger towns that you can easily explore, but far enough that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds every day. The local restaurants around here are solid too – there’s this little place called Casa Pedro about two blocks away that does incredible fish, and the prices are way more reasonable than what you’d pay in the tourist zones. Check-in was smooth, parking isn’t a nightmare like some places, and honestly, for the price point, you’re getting way more value than those generic resort hotels. If you’re looking for a base to actually experience this part of the island rather than just lying by a pool, this spot delivers.

  The location and view are stunning, and quite some options to eat and drink right in front of the building. They accepted our booking the same day due to our other accommodation getting canceled, and the apartment was super clean and friendly explanation by Julio Bautista on how things work (in Spanish). No cockroaches or anything that we could spot, and it smelled very clean including the sheets. You sleep hearing the sea which is quite unique and you have everything you need for the kitchen, towels and everything. Definitely recommend them as hosts!
  
  What could be improved: There was a rooster/chicken from very early on, this is the only reason why I don’t give the property a 10. But to be honest this is not the fault of the owners, just the only downside we found.

  Des hôtes très accueillants, un appartement très bien situé et agréable, il y a tout ce qu’il faut sur place y compris liquide vaisselle, shampooing etc. Le rapport qualité prix est très bon.
  
  What could be improved: Seul petit bémol pour moi, au moment de ma visite la baie vitrée de la terrasse ne fermait pas correctement. Le balcon est fermé et à l’étage donc ce n’est pas si grave mais pour une femme voyageant seule ce n’est pas si rassurant 🙂

  El apartamento tenía todo tipo de utensilios en la cocina y el baño incluso con un montón de geles, champús y mascarillas de pelo.
  Había toallas limpias de sobra, la cama era cómoda y además tenía un sofá.
  Espacios amplios y una terraza fantástica con privacidad y vistas inmejorables.
  Lo mejor, el baño en el mar por las mañanas.
  Justo debajo hay bares y restaurantes, una farmacia y un pequeño supermercado.
