You know what caught me off guard about Aptos Monasterio de San Antonio 6? The name makes it sound way more formal than it actually is. I mean, sure, it’s got that old Spanish charm going on, but this is really just a solid, no-nonsense apartment-style place right in the heart of Icod de los Vinos. The location on Calle Campino is honestly perfect if you want to be walking distance from everything that matters – you’re literally a few minutes’ stroll from the famous thousand-year-old dragon tree that everyone comes to see, and the Plaza de la Pila is right there when you need your morning coffee fix.

The apartments themselves are what I’d call “refreshingly straightforward” – they’ve got everything you actually need without trying to impress you with unnecessary frills. Three stars feels about right, though honestly, the 7.8 rating probably reflects what most people experience: it’s clean, functional, and the kitchenettes are actually usable (unlike some places where they just throw in a hot plate and call it a day). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Icod isn’t exactly a party town, but even so, you’re tucked away enough that you’ll sleep well. The only thing that might wake you up is the occasional late-night reveler heading home from one of the local bars near the plaza, but that’s pretty rare.

Here’s the thing about staying in Icod – and this is something the big resort hotels in the south can’t offer – you’re actually living like a local for a bit. The morning market happens just down the street, there’s a decent supermarket within walking distance (Spar, if you’re wondering), and you can park without losing your mind, which is honestly a miracle in the Canary Islands. The building itself has that slightly worn-in feel that comes with age, but not in a concerning way – more like your favorite jeans, you know? Plus, being in the center means you can walk to the Cueva del Viento (those volcanic caves everyone raves about) or catch a guagua to pretty much anywhere else on the island. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to explore the northern part of Tenerife rather than just hitting the beaches – though honestly, the black sand beach in nearby Garachico is worth the short drive anyway.

  El sitio es precioso, la terraza tiene unas vistas geniales y los apartamentos techos altos y llenos de madera, son muy acogedores. La cocina está totalmente equipada, ponen toallas y las cambian, la cama cómoda pero las almohadas no tanto. Un trato con el personal genial, volveremos seguro!
