I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Apartments Alba on Calle Galo Ponte, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. But you know what? This place completely surprised me, and I mean that in the best way possible. The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know El Médano at all. You’re literally a two-minute walk from that gorgeous stretch of beach where all the windsurfers hang out, but far enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with the late-night bar crowd stumbling around.

The apartments themselves are what really won me over, though. Each one feels like someone actually lives there – not that sterile hotel room vibe you get so often. The kitchens are properly equipped (I’m talking real knives that actually cut things, decent-sized fridge, even a proper coffee maker), and the balconies… well, most of them catch either the morning sun or those incredible Tenerife sunsets. I stayed in a second-floor unit facing west, and honestly, I found myself just sitting out there with a glass of wine most evenings watching the light change over the ocean. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building too, which – let’s be real – isn’t always a given in these smaller places.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even during peak season. The building’s set back just enough from the street, and the way it’s positioned, you don’t get the wind howling through like you do in some of the beachfront places. Parking can be a bit tricky during the day (it’s Spain, after all), but there’s usually space in the evenings, and the locals are pretty good about not blocking you in. The management folks are genuinely helpful too – they actually know the area and can point you toward the good tapas spots that aren’t just tourist traps. There’s this little place about five minutes walk away that does incredible fresh fish, but you’d never find it without a local tip. The only minor downside I’d mention is that the hot water can take a minute to get going in the mornings, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for this type of setup in the Canaries, and it’s a small price to pay for everything else you’re getting.

  We stayed in an apartment with a family (4 adults). I slept in the living room on the sofa (it was a bit short, but I'm 1.78m tall), but I was still comfortable! They brought extra bed linen for me and there were plenty of towels!
  
  Wonderful view from the balcony! both to the ocean and to the plaza. These days there was a celebration with a concert and our balcony became a VIP box.
