You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Jilguero Sunny? The name actually makes sense once you’re there. I mean, this place sits right in the heart of Residencial El Mocan in Palm-mar, and honestly, it’s one of those spots where the morning light just floods everything. The apartment faces south – which explains a lot about why they went with “Sunny” – and you’ll get that gorgeous Canarian sunshine streaming through the windows pretty much all day.

The location on Jilguero 9 is actually pretty clever. You’re tucked away in this quiet residential area, so you don’t get the tourist chaos that hits some parts of Tenerife, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. There’s this little local market about a five-minute walk away where the locals shop – not the touristy stuff, but actual groceries and daily necessities. And if you’re renting a car (which I’d recommend), parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in other parts of the island. The complex has designated spots, though they fill up during peak season, so get back before evening if you’re out exploring.

What really strikes me about this place is how it feels more like staying at a friend’s apartment than a typical hotel setup. The 4-star rating isn’t just for show – there’s attention to detail here that you notice after a day or two. The kitchen is actually equipped for real cooking, not just reheating leftover tapas. I found myself making proper breakfasts with fresh fruit from the local vendors. The Wi-Fi works reliably too, which honestly can’t be said for every place on the island. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you consider it’s those little things that add up – like having enough towels without asking, or blackout curtains that actually block the light when you want to sleep in after a late night in Santa Cruz. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the hot water takes a minute to get going in the morning, but that’s pretty standard for this type of building in Spain. Palm-mar itself is sort of the sweet spot between the busier resort areas and the more remote parts of southern Tenerife – you can walk to decent restaurants without the crowds, and the coast is close enough that you can hear the waves on quiet evenings.

  This is one of the best apartments I have ever stayed in. It is clean, quiet and has all the necessary things. The location is convenient, only a ten-minute drive to the beach. The community has a swimming pool and a Spanish padel court that can be used for free, and there is also a free parking space. When I was unclear about how to use some of the facilities, the landlord responded very promptly. If I have the opportunity in the future, I will book again.

  Excellent stay in a secure residential apartment. The apartment was well equipped with all the amenities such as washing machine, air conditioning, microwave oven , grill oven , cooking range , enough utensils, glasses e.t.c. In addition the swimming pool was an excellent place to swim with family. Very well maintained. Also the area is very calm in night, giving you a sound sleep. The Checkin process was easily executed by the owner despite ours being a late night checkin. The owner was always reachable if we had any doubts. The apartment can comfortably sleep a family. One queen bed and sofa bed , good for 3-4 people, or 2 kids and both parents.

  The location is perfect for nice quite holidays far from crowd of tourists. at the same time, it is not to hard to get to Siam Park and other entertainments in the area.

  Apartamento tal cual se ve en las fotografías, funcional cómodo y con lo necesario para pasar unos días de total relax en un complejo tranquilo.
  
  Hemos estado en varios alojamientos en el Mocán y el aire acondicionado es un plus añadido que se agradece mucho.
  
  Añadimos el detalle de las medidas del sofá cama, porque no lo vimos en los comentarios del otros usuarios, nuestro hijo mide cerca de 1.90 metros y ha dormido perfectamente.
  
  Las instalaciones están muy cuidadas y la piscina muy limpia.
  
  Incluye plaza de garaje porque el coche es imprescindible si quieres moverte. El Palm Mar es una zona residencial apartada de los núcleos principales del sur de la isla y no está bien comunicada con transporte público.
  
  Tienes un pequeño supermercado en la entrada principal del residencial y justo al lado la pizzería El Trigo que cada vez que vamos es visita obligada.
  
  Por último, muy agradecidos a la anfitriona que nos dejo entrar una hora antes del check in estipulado, cuando el apartamento estaba preparado por el servicio de limpieza.
