Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Apartamentos Monasterio de San Antonio” on the map, I thought it might be some stuffy converted monastery situation. But walking up to this place on Campino street, you realize it’s actually got this really cool blend of traditional Canarian architecture with modern apartment-style comfort that just works. The adults-only policy means you’re not dealing with kids running around the pool at 7 AM, which – let’s be real – is exactly what you want when you’re trying to unwind in Icod de los Vinos.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve nailed the balance between giving you independence (proper kitchenettes, separate living areas) and still feeling like you’re staying somewhere special. The location is honestly perfect if you know Icod at all – you’re close enough to walk to the famous Drago Milenario when the tour buses aren’t there (early morning is your best bet), but far enough from the main tourist drag that you actually get to sleep at night. I mean, Icod isn’t exactly party central, but still. You can hear the Atlantic from some of the rooms, which is this constant, gentle background sound that’s way better than any white noise machine. The staff genuinely knows their stuff about the area too – they’ll tell you which days the local market is worth visiting and when to hit the coastal paths before it gets too windy.

The apartments themselves feel more like staying in a really well-appointed friend’s place than a hotel room. Everything’s clean and thoughtfully laid out, though I’ll say the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty in some rooms (pretty standard for this part of Tenerife, honestly). What I loved most was having coffee on the balcony in the morning – you get these views over the valley that remind you why people have been living in this exact spot for centuries. The 8.3 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting four-star comfort without the four-star attitude. It’s the kind of place where you can grocery shop at the Spar down the street and make your own breakfast, then spend the day hiking in Teide National Park without feeling like you’re missing out on hotel amenities. Plus, if you’re planning to explore the northern coast – and you should, because the drive through the laurel forests is incredible – you’re perfectly positioned without being stuck in the chaos of Puerto de la Cruz.

  Lovely hosts and amazing location right near the beautiful town of Icod de los Vinos (though you will ideally need a car because it’s on quite a steep hill). The apartment itself was very cosy and easy to feel at home in. There was a fridge, hob and microwave making it easy to store and prepare ingredients or leftovers and we were provided with everything we needed – soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper etc. Perfect for a holiday where you’ll be getting out and exploring lots and want somewhere homey to come back to.

  I loved the big appartment( nr. 1), and everything in it.With It's charming furniture and nice inside garden and place to sit there. The bed is comfortable and there is a nice shower. I want to go back.

  Well equipped for self-catering. Parking is close by. The windows have a view. Could hardly hear the other guests. The location is convenient for visiting many parts of the island.

  The location is perfect if you are looking for a remote place to relax. Its within a walking distance from the beach and restaurants. (Tho the walk is down a very steep road).
  For us this was perfect, we enjoyed the wonderful views and peace.

  It has everything you need for basics needs.
