Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around the Canary Islands, but Apartamentos Medano – La Ladera honestly surprised me. When you first pull up to 33 Calle Tenerife, it doesn’t scream luxury or anything – it’s this sort of understated building that blends into the hillside above El Médano. But that’s actually part of its charm, you know? The moment you walk into your apartment, you realize why this place has a 9.2 rating. The views hit you first – I mean, you’re literally looking down over the whole town and out to the Atlantic, with that distinctive red mountain (Montaña Roja) sitting there like a perfect postcard backdrop.

What really gets me about this place is how it manages to feel both local and comfortable at the same time. The apartments themselves are spacious – not those cramped hotel rooms where you’re bumping into furniture. You’ve got proper kitchens, which is huge when you’re staying more than a couple nights, and the terraces… well, let’s just say I spent way too many evenings out there with a glass of wine watching the windsurfers pack up for the day down at the beach. Speaking of which, you’re maybe a 10-minute walk down the hill to Playa de El Médano, where the wind conditions are supposedly some of the best in Europe for kitesurfing. Even if you’re not into that scene, the beach itself is this gorgeous stretch of golden sand that somehow never feels overcrowded, even in peak season.

The staff here actually knows the area – they’re not just reciting tourist brochures. When I asked about restaurants, they pointed me toward this little family-run place called Casa Tomás (not the touristy spots near the beach), and honestly it was one of the best meals I had on the island. Parking’s included, which might not sound like much until you’ve spent 20 minutes circling blocks in other parts of Tenerife. The only thing I’d mention is that it can get a bit windy up there – it’s the trade-off for those incredible views and that cooling breeze. But honestly, after spending days in the heat, you’ll probably welcome it. This isn’t one of those places where you feel like you’re in a resort bubble; you’re actually staying in a real Spanish town where locals walk their dogs in the evening and kids play football in the small plazas. It’s got that authentic feel that’s getting harder and harder to find, especially somewhere that’s this well-run and comfortable.

  Very friendly host, very clean appartment, fully equipped kitchen, very close to town and beach. On third floor in an appartment building with elevator. Public parking around the building where we always found a space, but can become quite full in the evening. Nice welcome package with wine.
  
  What could be improved: Windows in direction of a construction site, every working day, an excavator sometimes with a sledgehammer started latest at 8am. The construction site looks to be at the very beginning of the project. Depending on the wind direction, airplanes are taking off an estimated one kilometer away from the window about every 15 to 30 minutes. Although the airplane noise is audible all over El Medano. It is not super loud, but you should bring a certain immunity to noise.

  Our host Carlos was very easy to contact and met us at the apartment when we arrived. We had travelled from the airport by Public Bus and it's just a 10 minute walk to the apartment. We received a friendly welcome and were shown into the apartment.
  Our apartment had a double room, lounge, kitchen area, bathroom and a sun terrace. It was light, spacious, nicely furnished and immaculately clean. There was plenty of storage and we found everything we needed in the well-equipped kitchen.
  The apartment is just a few minutes walk to the town which has a nice beach where you can sunbathe, swim or do watersports. There are shops (including a supermarket), restaurants and bars and it's busy throughout the day and into the evening. The town seems to attract locals and tourists and is very friendly and relaxed. Carlos recommended some places to go and we found other places too. Everywhere was welcoming and reasonably priced. It seems this town is a place to go for local families and tourists of all ages to go so it has a great vibe.
  There is a public bus stop, tourist information and travel agent so it would be easy to use this as a base to explore other parts of the island. We used the public bus to get to Siam Park which was a great day out!
  Based on our experience we would thoroughly recommend and definitely stay again if we come back to Tennerife. Thank you!

  Perfect, comfortable little apartment, easy walk to main square and beach and the landlord, Carlos, could not have been more helpful – even let us stay after check-out time on our last day. The town itself has a fantastic vibe, suits surfers, families and retirees. The local people are beyond friendly – with the exception of the taxi driver who took us there (but I suppose you couldn't call him local!) – all in all, a great experience.
  
  What could be improved: taxis on arrival at the airport can be a problem, as there are too many flights coming in together. visitors would do well to book a taxi in advance.

  The communication with the owner was very easy and effective, the location of the apartment is super, and it's easy to park the car around. The apartment is nice with a terrace with a wonderful view.
  
  What could be improved: Maybe the bathroom need a little renovation (respect to the rest of the apartment). We had to make the bed on the coach by ourselves, maybe it would have been nice to find it ready.
