You know what? I’ve walked past Apartamentos Masaru on Calle Roble probably a dozen times before I actually stayed there, and honestly, I was kicking myself for not booking it sooner. It’s one of those places that doesn’t scream for attention from the street – just a clean, understated building tucked into this quiet residential corner of Puerto de la Cruz where you can actually hear yourself think.

The thing about staying here is that you’re genuinely living like a local for a few days. I mean, there’s no fancy lobby with marble floors or whatever, but what you get instead is this surprisingly spacious apartment setup where you can spread out your stuff without playing Tetris with your suitcase. The kitchen actually works – and I say that as someone who’s encountered plenty of European “kitchenettes” that are basically decorative. You’re a three-minute walk from the Mercadona if you want to grab some jamón and cheese, or honestly, just head down toward the old town and you’ll hit Plaza del Charco in about ten minutes on foot. The walk takes you through these narrow streets where you’ll pass more locals than tourists, which is sort of the whole point of this area.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. Puerto de la Cruz can get pretty lively (especially around the port area), but Calle Roble feels removed from all that chaos while still being close enough that you’re not taking expensive taxi rides everywhere. The building itself is well-maintained – nothing fancy, but you know the owners actually care about the place. Check-in was straightforward, no drama, and the woman who helped us knew exactly which restaurants to avoid and which ones serve food that isn’t just reheated tourist fare. She pointed us toward this little Canarian place up the hill that we never would’ve found otherwise. The apartment had this lived-in comfort that you don’t get in hotels – real furniture, decent lighting, a bathroom where you can actually move around. I’ll be honest, the décor isn’t going to win any design awards, but it’s clean and functional, and after a day of hiking around Teide or dealing with the crowds at Loro Parque, functional is exactly what you want. Plus, you’re close enough to the botanical gardens that you can walk there in the morning before it gets crowded, and the whole northern coast opens up from here without needing to navigate the tourist bus routes.

  the hotel was in a great location with restaurants and bars just outside the hotel, it was a short walk or bus/taxi ride into Puerto de la Cruz. the room was dated but clean and had everything you wanted, the bed was comfy and was cleaned every day except Saturdays. The breakfast was plain but there was plenty of it and was tasty. the pool was great it was heated and had steps into it(rather then a ladder)

  Spacious room, comfortable pillow. Peaceful as most of guests are older people.
  Everything clean. Big pool for swimming and nice garden. If room to garden /pool side it's quiet. Laundry possibility was great.
