Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Apartamentos Los Dragos del Norte, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that surprise you. This little complex sits right in the Parque Las Flores urbanization, and while that might sound fancy, it’s actually this quiet residential pocket where you feel like you’re staying in a proper neighborhood rather than some tourist bubble.

The thing about Puerto de la Cruz is that location is everything, and these guys actually nailed it. You’re tucked away from the main drag chaos (thank god, because Calle San Telmo can get pretty mental during peak season), but you can still walk to the seafront in maybe ten minutes – fifteen if you’re one of those people who stops to pet every cat along the way. The apartments themselves are solid, nothing flashy but everything works. I mean, the kitchenette is small but functional, which is perfect if you want to grab some fresh tomatoes and papas arrugadas from the local market instead of eating tourist paella every night. The balconies are where these places really shine though – most have these views that stretch toward the mountains, and honestly, having your morning coffee out there while listening to the neighborhood wake up is pretty special.

What really sets this place apart is how it feels authentically Canarian rather than like some generic holiday rental. The staff actually live in Puerto de la Cruz (shocking, I know), so they can tell you which guachinche serves the best rabbit stew or when the Sunday market in La Orotava is worth the bus ride. The building itself has this lived-in quality – it’s clean and well-maintained, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not trying to be something it’s not. You’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard sometimes, or neighbors chatting on their balconies in the evening, which I found charming rather than annoying. The 8.7 rating makes perfect sense when you consider what you’re actually getting for the price point – it’s not luxury, but it’s genuine and comfortable in a way that feels rare these days. Plus, and this is crucial if you’re driving, parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the old town. Sure, you might have to parallel park between two tiny Seats, but at least you won’t be circling the block for an hour like some demented vulture.

The place itself is good, but it was chilly inside. Sad that there were no slippers for guests. Anyway breakfast was decent, everything worked as expected.

Great little supermarket just around the corner, as well as some good restaurants. We ate at Poco Loco Mexican and the cafe/ bar opposite hotel.
Bus stop to town and other places just around the corner too.
Steep hill to beach and town but good walk and lovely views.

  • Paulius from Lithuania (9/10)

Hotel was fresh, clean and amazing.
Really clean, good sound insulation in the rooms, was located on first floor my room, had my own porch to chill.
Breakfast changes each time, last day the coffee machine broke down so it was an issue to some people.

    Good location, amazing breakfast
