Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Apartamentos La Casa Verde on Carretera General Las Arenas, I wasn’t expecting much. The name sounds pretty generic, and let’s face it, apartment-style hotels can be hit or miss. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Puerto de la Cruz’s main drag, but far enough up the hill that you escape most of the tourist chaos. The building itself has this laid-back Canarian vibe – nothing fancy, but clean and well-maintained with those typical white walls and green shutters that actually make sense given the name.

What really won me over was how practical everything is. The apartments are properly equipped – I mean, you’ve got a full kitchen that’s actually usable (not just a sad mini-fridge and hot plate situation), decent-sized living areas, and balconies where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the town wake up below. The staff speaks enough English to help you out, but they’re clearly locals who know their stuff. When I asked about avoiding the crowds at Playa Jardín, the guy at reception told me about this little path that cuts down through the residential area – saved me about fifteen minutes of walking through packed streets every day. You know what I appreciated most? The place stays quiet. I was worried about noise from the main road, but the rooms face away from traffic, and honestly, Puerto de la Cruz shuts down pretty early anyway unless there’s a festival going on.

The location is actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than in a tourist bubble. There’s a proper Spanish bakery about two blocks down where locals grab their bread in the morning, and you’re close enough to walk to the botanical gardens without needing a car – though parking is available if you’re doing the whole island tour thing. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy pools, but that 8.8 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed there. It’s just… solid. Reliable. The kind of place where everything works as it should, the beds are comfortable, the water pressure is decent, and you can actually relax without feeling like you’re missing out on something. I’d definitely book it again, especially during the shoulder seasons when Puerto de la Cruz shows its best side and you can enjoy those balcony views without the summer crowds.

  The apartment was very nice, had all amneties needed for one week stay. It is nicely decorated and comfortable for families with children. In the neighbourhood there is nice restaurant and not far away several supermarkets. Although it is located by busy street it didn't disturb us.

  Beautifully equiped and clean. Very comfortable and right on the bus route. A 30 minute downhill walk into town. Everything you need there. We bought groceries and taxied back up (around 6euros for taxi)

  Nice and clean apartment that is well equipped, plus we had some nice views. The host was lovely and great to communicate with. It has a good location for those who wish to travel out of the city by car and good bus connections to the centre. There are some local shops within walking distance had the basic items you might need. It's a good base for exploring the north side of the island.

  The appartment was a short bus ride (or walk) into the city centre. The roof terrace was lovely for sitting out.

  Good value for money, a very well equipped apartment, the kitchen has everything you need, I even found tea or baking paper. We had also an extra bed, because we had kids with us. Nice view from the terrace.

  Quite modern facilities and had everything we needed. Location was good – we had two flats, the noise from the street wasn't an issue for the flat on the ground floor.
